Thanksgiving at Dan and Jane's by Dave Eggers. [Lech, 6, under the table, pretends to be dead, in a coffin raised over the heads of hysterical mourners.]

Only worth it for the Robert Smith story-arc. And what an arc it was.

That's definitely an interesting way to tell a story. I liked the layout.

I just wish the story was a little better.
I do appreciate that it's the shortest thing Eggers has ever written, though.

How can he manage to overwrite something so short

Fairly funny.

It's particularly innovative how the audience has to be suspended from hooks high overhead.

Lech, 6, under the table, pretends to be dead, in a coffin raised over the heads of hysterical mourners.

It is almost impossible not to sing this sentence, and therefore, even though I don't like it, I like it.

Saved by the cat, I agree - if only Eggers sucked more so I could just out and out hate him. He'a always a little bit more than a little bit better than my most lukewarm opinion of him.

Way too little dysfunction to be a family thanksgiving story...but worth reading none-the-less!

Thanks for the post!

I enjoyed it, and I'm not particularly a Dave Eggars fan.
