Back up, back up, BACK UP.

I have not heard this tune in several years, not since the local "easy listening" station that played Christmas song and they haven't played it since they got bought out by Clear Channel. It's a song by some German oompa type band that goes "Wish I Was Home for Christmas" and something about the cavalry. I remember the DJ actually said who it's by and the title, and remember telling listeners that the only real way to get the song was to tape it off the radio (mind you, this was before file sharing was really big).

Does anyone here know who's it by and what the song is called?

champthom, I think you're thinking of "Driving home for Christmas" by Chris Rea

warpy: that's close but the song I heard had an actual German band singing it from the 50s or so. But it's better than nothing though.

Ah, I found it! Finally! It is "Stop the Calvary" by Jona Lewie, but sung by Welsh (not German) singers in 1981 (and not the 50s) and it's here. Thanks!

Wait... birds don't have teeth! Insects can't play brass instruments? What is this you're trying to pull here? I call shenanigans!
