Man, it seems like there's really been an explosion in robotics in the past few years, at least in I guess "self balancing" humanoid robots.

However, the freakiest one I've seen is that water snake robot. It's called the ACM-R5 apparently.

wow, Big Dog is fucking awesome, freaky as hell and really impressively stable. i've never seen a robot that moves in such a lifelike way. that's really cool - thanks.

I remember when the big dog video came around the first time.

I winced when I saw the guy kick it, because it was past the uncanny vally and at the "don't hurt the poor thing" stage.

It's an amazing coincidence that "robot" is English for "autonomous computer", Japanese for "remote control biped" and Chinese for "preprogrammed android".
