But is it harmless fun, or a breeding ground for pedophiles? We've also got hard hitting stories on pornstars, used car scams, and no-surgery breast implants, here in LA. What kind of stupid, sensationalistic scare stories are your local news stations doing for May sweeps?

My only comment is, God, that was either the worst edited or the worst written and edited piece I've ever seen.

New Shimmer is harmless fun and a breeding ground for pedophiles! Plus it makes a fabulous dessert topping!

may sweeps doesn't affect the local news, they run similar human interest stories year round.

My local news station decided to feature two spewing blow-torches aimed at fabricated walls in "live" promos leading up to the late news show. The story was about flame-retardant paint, but there's nothing MORE FUN THAN BURNING STUFF WITH TORCHES!

Woo...hoo..

Makes me sick.

Are you serious? Not only do local news broadcasts save up their most sensationalistic "investigative" stories for sweeps periods, and promote them heavily, they run a ridiculous number of "stories" on the network's TV shows. The local WB affiliate is especially bad about this; they run a lot of network puff pieces on stars of WB series, usually the ones shown that night so they can advertise an "exclusive interview" with the star of the show you're watching.

schools are breeding grounds for pedophiles too.

i'm pleased to report that i haven't watched a news broadcast in years, mainly because of crap like that.
