Very cool. Nice music and sound effects. I got stuck on level 3, though. :-(

I would enjoy this more if I could get past level 7!

/me mutters and grumbles about Friday Flash games making her feel dumb.

I found a video on YouTube that got me past 29, I assume the other levels would also be available for anyone else who prefers hollow victory over fair defeat.

jacquilynne, there's no shame in looking for solutions in Youtube. Some of these are devilish hard.

Oh, it turns out it was number 9 that I couldn't figure out. Because it never occurred to me that I could cut the goddamned rope.

Sxteen cought me for a long time. Happy with my solution though. Not so happy with the scrolling necessary.

Level 3 & I already need serious help. Why can't i think?
Must've missed the IQ booster shot as a child.

No wait, I got to level 4. Don't wanna sell myself short here.

I mean, level 5. But why is it that when I cut the big hammer the same way as shown on YouTube, it just ploops my guy limp in the water instead of smacking his ass thru the air? Can i blame Flash for that?

very nice game but I'm also having flash interface problems (the "move around on the screen" arrow) won't ever go away on level five only.

You can move around with WASD, if the pointer is awkward. Essential for some of the later levels where timing is key.

I looove the little "yurrrrrr!" noises they make when they all got on board.

Maybe, but I know a 10 year old who beat the game.

No pressure.

It's a very nice idea, and generally well-programmed. Although it did occur to me that someone should tell the designer that, in real life, ice floats.

The cut limits are annoying; the only explanation I've seen that there's only so many cuts you can make is the number in the bottom-left corner. Yes, some limit is needed in order to keep the physics engine running smoothly, but part of the problem is the designer's own fault by not providing any way of removing tiny fragments other than getting them to the boat.

Also, the scoring is nearly meaningless, serving mostly as a record of consecutive levels passed. Considering that there are levels where the solution is obvious but the player will probably have to try several times before the physics decide that he's golfed that dwarf in just the right way, it seems kind of wrong to penalize the player for not massaging the physics with just the right touch to get the dwarf's bottom-most pixel to clear that crag of deathrock on the first try.

I seem to be stuck on that stage where there's three dudes in some fork-like piece of ice, pegged on the bottom and leaning against a small rock to the upper-right. I can slice off the guy on the left and the guy on top and send them sliding into the boat, but the guy on the right, he just flops to the right and into the sea.

Grrr. I like this game, but level 38 is an example of what's wrong about some levels - it's the ones where you KNOW what you're supposed to do, but you have to do it precisely right that make things unfun. I must have tried to cut things 50 times, but it's not exactly right, so no go. Stupidly anal for an otherwise enjoyable game.

Good fun... good time-waster... but sh*t!! I have work to do!! Back to it!

This game is rife with historical inacuracies.

Yes, JHarris, the scoring bugs me also.

Two more (though not cute like Vikings and Evil Cat/Rats): Color Infection and Color Infection 2.
posted by maggieb at 5:41 PM on February 15, 2009

Okay color infection is fun, but the engine is non deterministic. Sometimes you have to do the right sequence repeatedly for it to work.

I think that makes it like dating.
