What about his trip to the dentist? Why is this post happening to him? Is this real life? Arrrrgh!

There is a secret achievement in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed called 'Worst Day-Shift Manager Ever' and you get it if you kill too many (or enough, depending on how you feel about it) Storm Troopers as Darth Vader in the first chapter.

That is all.

(The voice is also one of the better James Earl Jones impersonations around.)

there are a lot of funny 3-year-old videos on youtube. what's your point?

We understand you have a need to rush in here and snark, but have you ever spent a bit of time thinking about the Internet's needs?

Context for someone who might want more info prior to deciding whether to click. Some videos were shot at the Willy Street Coop. Cool.

I really think its unfair to put a Star Wars link on Metafilter without clearly labelling it Star Wars. It's really really hard to avoid this crap on the Internet and this post is not helping.

Chad Vader has been translated into at least 5 languages, including Portuguese, Spanish, French, Chinese, Hebrew and Lingua Franca Nova.

I had no idea nerd culture is now a global phenomenon.

Oh come on RussHy, Chad Vader has been on Youtube for almost three years and each episode has anywhere from one to ten million views. It is *not* something that most people haven't seen before.

To mercilessly drive home my point, here are some of my favorite moments from Flight of the Conchords. You just click on them and think about what you've done.

I guess I am not most people. ;)

(not everyone or perhaps even most people spend hours surfing youtube. pretty much the only youtubery I see comes from links from the likes of mefi etc. if chad wasn't here before it is fair game, especially given how big you say it is.)
posted by caddis at 2:53 PM on March 8, 2009

Why all the snarking? I've never heard of this before. But I haven't clicked on any of the links either because Star Wars-related stuff doesn't interested me.
posted by exhilaration at 2:58 PM on March 8, 2009

This is not something you'd have to like star wars in order to enjoy.
posted by St. Alia of the Bunnies at 3:25 PM on March 8, 2009

This stuff gets linked all over the place. For once I'm with the naysayers - if you're going to link to a Star Wars parody at least link to a funny one.

Hard to avoid old Star Wars parodies? You don't know old and hard!
posted by hexatron at 4:11 PM on March 8, 2009

I had only seen Chad Goes to the Dentist, and assumed that it was one-off. I also let the internet clicky words decide what I should watch on You Tube, so I had no idea about this.

1) Make video series featuring Darth Vader (or any other other Star Wars character) set in the "real world". *

2) Easily amused fanboys eat it up.

3) ??????

4) Profit!

* Video series does not need to be well written or funny.

What? No mention of the Vader Sessions?

Talk about taking a one-note, not especially funny joke and beating it to death.

The thread shitters here are giving off more than a wiff of former star wars nerd that hasn't gotten over how bad the prequels were.

Not all of us are aware of every bit of star wars fandom as soon as it's released. This was new to me and I thought it was hilarious.

Not everything on MeFi is brand new, and that's what makes it interesting. Sure, Chad Vader is detailed to death on Wikipedia (did you know that LucasArts were impressed by Matt Sloan's Darth Vader impression to the point that he was hired as the new voice actor for Darth Vader, and his voice appears in the games Empire at War: Forces of Corruption, Soulcalibur IV, and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed?), and some of those details could have added depth to this post. Regardless, it's new to some folks, because we all don't all browse YouTube, or we missed Good Morning America (PDF) that day in 2006.

For other good extensions of the Star Wars universe, check the Official Star Wars Fan Films Awards. Hours of distractions await you.

Surely I'm not the only OCD person who's cringing at the lightly sloppy way these episodes titles were arranged, in this post. Why ruin a perfectly good chance for symmetry by altering the spacing between Ep. 3 and 4 but not on the rest. And why is Episode #1's title formatted differently? Such a great opportunity for alignment and orderliness, missed due to apparent carelessness.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to check to make sure my wife didn't leave any unused seconds on the microwave's timer.

Wow tough crowd. If this was a McDonalds mashup involving a filet 'o fish and an apple pie doused with scotch no one would complain.

I don't have anywhere else but metafilter to get links to the good youtube stuff... either keep the links coming, or maybe we should start tube.metafilter.com or metatube.com.
Or someone tell me a good place that digestifies youtube content for the masses. I don't have all day to go through soccer games and anime.

I have to say, my expectations for this were low, and the funniness exceeded them. Not that it was hard to do, but yes, I was happily surprised that something I thought would suck didn't.

Totally damning with faint praise over here.

Darth Vader in Soul Calibur IV is okay, but Yoda totally breaks the balance, just like Link broke it in SCII. Fucking cross-marketing.
