SpaceCollective. Where forward thinking terrestrials exchange ideas and information about the state of the species, their planet and the universe, living the lives of science fiction today. A growing number of universities, architecture and design schools are conducting projects on this site. Hundreds of art treasures, educational videos and narratives are found in their galleries. Every SpaceCollective member is provided with a personal time capsule, preserving their contributions for the edification of each other as well as future times and beings.

I've been mining this site for FPPs for a while now. It's a pretty great community with a lot of interesting headthinking type stuff going on. I especially like the Polytopia project. Good luck getting MeFi to cotton on to what spacecollective is all about, or how exactly it works (I'm still not so sure myself), but it's worth a shot.

This is... weird. The initial layout feels like it should be some sort of Alienshift crazy-site. The galleries remind me of wandering into the old Sub-Genius art galleries (if in presentation, at least), only with less Bob and nudity. The site screams "Coast to Coast cranks!" at me. But reading over some of the stuff there and I get more a feeling of "desperately visionary" than crazy. I WANT to like this, there seems to be some good creative and thoughtful work here. Something about it just makes me hold myself back, though. Cynicism, maybe?

I just want to let you all know that I'm only here until the mother ship returns and I file my report.

So be nice to me.

Really? I thought these guys were preciously mincing where no design network had ever minced before.

And no, they didn't send me an invite.
