Hey this is great. Del is always great. I'm one of the few who loved his last album.

Still, I wish he would finish working on Deltron 3030 2.

Dammit, I have Flash and it says I don't and maybe it just hates Linux but if someone has a direct link or something I'd like to see it. grrr.

Oh wait, nevermind, I got it to work. Hooray free music!

Cool, thanks for posting this!

Yeah, it's one of those rare flash interfaces that just doesn't work with a flashblocker, since it loads the elements as needed or something. Load up your alternative browser and go to town. I'm uncertain of the quality, but hey, it's free.

(and that said, it finally gave me a chance to check out Deltron 3030, which I promptly bought, so mission accomplished!)

I still think 3030 is the best thing he's done, but then, I haven't heard any of this yet. I'm excited! Thanks for the link.

I hate to admit it, but I have never heard Deltron 3030. However, I Wish My Brother George Was Here is one of my all-time favorite albums. Can anybody comment on how Deltron measures up to that album?

>>I hate to admit it, but I have never heard Deltron 3030.

Let's fix that RIGHT now. A few choice cuts.

While I'm not familar with any song on George other than "Mr Dobalina", I can describe Deltron 3030: It's a concept album, a hip-hop space opera about a tyrannical world a thousand years in our future. It's equal parts Del, Kid Koala, and Dan the Automater. It may sound hokey, but it really hangs together. The scope is incredible, and to my mind it really delivers on the promise and the premise. Along the way, Del narrates piloting a Gundam-like mech via a rap battle and creating a computer virus to wreck the totalitarian regime.

It's halfway between the starship antics of Parliament Funkadelic and the Gorillaz.

Best song on the album, but you're cheating yourself if you don't listen to the whole thing at least once.
light the torch, they can't fight the force,
victory is ours once we strike the source
enterprising wise men look to the horizon
thinking more capitalism is the wisdom
and inprison all citizens in power with rhythm
we keep the funk alive by talking with idioms

Funk Man is one of the best Del albums, imo.
And one of my favorites of '09 (so far) .

Rhythm, you have it or you don't
That's a fallacy.
I'm in them
Every sprouting tree, every child of peace
Every cloud and sea.

Holy shit...why can't all hip-hop be this awesome?

His newest album, Funk Man (the stimulus package), is available for the price of your email.

Price of an email? Fuck that. When are the music industry going to learn they need to stop ripping off and charge affordable prices?

Now if this album was priced at something like a web-click, that'd be ok. But you know that even if they went there, they wouldn't be able to stop themselves from sneaking in hidden costs -- saying it's just a click, but then putting in a captcha *after* you've made that click, just to extort as much as they possibly can from you.

Talk about bait and switch. You've paid your click, so you're invested. Now do you ramp up and pay the captcha, or do you just walk away and wipe off your initial one click investment? Write it off as a bad investment, so to speak?

They're cunning bastards in the music industry all right.

You're welcome rangeboy.

Thanks for tipping me to this release, Pob. Haven't listened yet, but it's cued up. Bandcamp looks intersting.

I just spent like half an hour clicking around on Bandcamp, and think that it indeed looks pretty great. If I were in a band, I'd be tempted just to redirect my domain name to a Bandcamp site.

I do fear that they'll get overrun by people in phony and/or not-very-good bands who can't pull their weight with mp3 sales, forcing Bandcamp to resort to Flash ads and the like.

Listening to Deltron 3030 now. Thanks! I'd been looking for something to tide me over while waiting for the next Gorillaz album.

IWMBGWH is totally worth it just for the skits in "The Wacky World of Rapid Transit." Are you Rosa Parks' son, motherfucker?

So...nobody's going to mention Hieroglyphics? Great logo, too.

About once a month for the last year I've been checking out Heiro's site, hoping there'd be a new Heiro/Del/tron album, or a single, or anything. DOOM will only hold a man's attention for so long, awesome as he is. This is the best news I've had in fucking ages. You made my day here P.o.B.
