warning. "really interesting" is not descriptive enough an adjective for... that... I mean it is and everything... But clicking leads to "wow, tentacles and guts! gross." Yeah. Mildly disturbing stuff, but the whole reincarnation thing I find fascinating. Good post, consider me affected!

I feel like this is the picture book for Special Containment Protocol.

I'm not sure if invoking the Elder Sign at this point would help, or hurt my remaining SAN score.

If he were the reincarnation of Hokusai, he'd be... better...

Umm... yeah. That's not really Hokusai's style...

"The reincarnation of Katsushika Hokusai" is a bold claim to make. The one with the guys hanging in the nets I liked, but apart from that, it seems he's still learning. Not that I'm some expert photog or something. It just looks like student work. Pretty cool though.

But...Katsushika Hokusai never had a camera!

My guess is it's the aquatic theme.

Dear aspiring Japanese artists,

Before committing art, please ask yourself the following questions:

1) Is it horrorporn?
2) Is it pedohorrorporn?
3) Will people stumbling across it on the Internet react by saying, "WTF, Japan?!?"
4) No, seriously, it's horrorporn, isn't it?

If you answer "yes" to any of these three questions, you may want to consider a new creative direction.

Signed,

The Rest of Humanity

But... but... it's horrorporn curdled with the vaseline of Matthew Barney!

Guro, people. Not "horrorporn". Jeez.

who claims to be the reincarnation of Katsushika Hokusai.

Where?

Reincarnation of Hokusai? Nah, more like hakusai, I'd say.

Nah, more like hakusai, I'd say.

What, do the N, S, F and W keys not work for you either? There might have been minors with a view of the screen!

Favourited for "committing art". Awesome turn of phrase The Tensor.

I can't claim credit for "committing art" -- I'm sure I've heard it somewhere before.

Also, I'd hardly call this pornographic. Unless you enjoy fapping to seafood.

I would like to think a reincarnated Hokusai would not use flash or myspace. But even if he did, his links would work.

Where else, his MySpace page (also NSFW with nipples and seafood).

The art seemed OK, but I'm mostly here to bitch about the interface.

Like, just gimme the goddamned picture already. Your flash mosaic is pissing me off!

You can't really tell someone what is and what isn't art, but to me, this is not art. It's dead animals draped on people in tacky colors and situations.. and is just plain ugly. Not even in a poignant, "This makes a statement about your soul!" ugly.. just.. plain old, ordinary, "WTF is that on your knick-knack shelf grandma?" ugly.

Well, it reminds me of "The Fisherman's Wife" at least.

I was all ready to be totally disinterested, but then I read the comments.

You had me at "tentacles."

That's why I don't feel too bad if I occasionally read the comments before clicking the links.

I liked the photos too. He's trying a little too hard to be out there and that detracts from them a little bit, but I still got a kick out of them.

Somehow the sound effects make the totallyfuckingbatshitinsane photos more palatable.

Yeah some of these Japanese dishes can really get out of control when you are trying to prepare them.

Photographers love Flash interfaces because it makes it harder to steal images. However, in this case, I believe it's unnecessary.

The site has disturbing photos more than interesting ones.
Interesting refers to the way the web site is designed.
And NSFW [!].

That said, thanks for sharing.
