For a moment I thought this was a repost.

Three-frame movies are seeing a lot of love this week. Are there any 4-frame .gif sites?

The Blade Runner one is perfect.

The Juno one is quite accurate.

After watching three-frame Total Recall, I had flashbacks of the Arnold soundboard that swarmed the web... and then wept.

The Blade Runner one is perfect.

The Star Wars one is perfect.

Total Recall is prefetched.

They get progressively more artful and interesting the lower you go. Total Recall, indeed.

Makes Alien actually seem all cute and cuddly. Come here, Alien, I want to give you a big squishy hug!

OH GOD... Oh.... OH GOD....

Blade Runner wins for me.

"meticulously scribbled" ... I like that oxymoron.

I didn't get Star Wars, but BttF was funny.

They get progressively more sardonic and thus amusing the lower you go.

The Juno one is quite accurate.

Not only accurate, but more enjoyable, too.

Cute gimmick, but these are not my favorite movies.

God, a three frame version of Videodrome on that site would be heaven.
posted by munchingzombie at 7:59 AM on June 15, 2009

Jurassic park was one of the best. I'd say followed by total recall. That dude at the party by myself looked so sad.

In a loop. Forever.

Clever, in a cute-st sort of way. The BttF one was way clever.

They should do a TV one, and have Lost.

I bet I'm the only one who spent ten minutes trying to drag and drop the cassettes into the VCR.

I loved the Star Wars one. Very understated.

This is some kinda post-post-irony right

Am I supposed to be getting this at face value

Am I dumb

I'll be the grump - I don't think any of them are clever.

I do love the design of the site though.

What's next? Summarizing a movie in one tweet?

Alien: Don't eat the eggs.

Star Wars: Trust your feelings and a big gun.

Blade Runner: Best if used by this date.

Total Recall: Better red than dead.

Juno: Trust your feelings and a big gun ironic detachment.

um, i counted four frames
posted by rudster at 11:08 AM on June 15, 2009

Some of them are mildly clever (Star Wars, Bladerunner), some not so much (LotR), some not really suited for the animated-GIF format (Titanic).
posted by Halloween Jack at 11:36 AM on June 15, 2009

they wont play for me :(
posted by supermedusa at 11:48 AM on June 15, 2009

I thought these sucked. Films in 30 seconds re-enacted by bunnies is about a million times better.

Gotta go with the Blade Runner also.
posted by Gravitus at 1:39 PM on June 15, 2009

seriously, is there a secret 'play' button I am missing? helps!
posted by supermedusa at 2:03 PM on June 15, 2009

supermedusa, when I mouse-over the stack of tapes on the left, I see titles. When I click on one, it plays.

If you submit a movie suggestion, he adds you to his mailing list, which I am apparently going to be subscribed to until I die...

If you wish to be removed from the 3FM mailing list, just send an email reply with this text in the header:

'GIGLI is the best film ever made and Ben Affleck is my favourite actor'

*le sigh* the nav works for me and the first frame (the title frame) loads but then nothing happens...is this a joke you are all playing on me?? *weeps*
