Sad news.

At the moment it seems there were 142 passengers and 11 crew. The approximate place the crash occurred was the northernmost tip of the Comoros islands, Mitsamiouli.

The last crash that occurred in that part of the world was due to a hijacking.

Apparently some bodies have already been recovered.

.

I'm guessing the post is in Swahili (Kwaheri = goodbye) because Comorian is a dialect of kiswahili.

From an article in 2006: David Learmount, a safety specialist, points out in the latest edition of Flight magazine that many of the fatal accidents last year involved aircraft registered in states with "struggling economies" where regulatory activity was low on the list of political priorities.

I cannot imagine the terror that Baya Bakari felt as she clung to wreckage and watched the plane sink into the ocean. And the people running that airline using a banned plane - criminals.
