Speedle It's a little like Yahoo! News - Most-emailed content, Third Voice, and a collaborative blog. The background on the company can be found here. It utilizes Microsoft's Passport technology, e-mail, and instant messaging. The home page has the most popular links updated in real time. Very cool.

Hey look, a bouncing sphincter!

I'm sorry, it's really hot in here today...

A site devoted to sending links in email to your friends? Ugh.

* Send links right from your browser
* No more cutting and pasting
* Built-in address book

They might as well call it "Spammle."

Speedle is being launched on $500,000, according to this Speedle-munged link. You can tell things are getting tight -- two years ago a goofy idea like this could have blown through $5 million with nary a blink.

My favorite part is the "no more cutting and pasting" tagline. Ugh, if only there were an easier way to send all these funny "last page of the internet" URLs around to Auntie Pat and Uncle Bob. I just can't cut and paste anymore!

Was that really a problem anyone was having?

A lot of folks don't know about "cut&paste." It's an assumption that anyone using computers for a while knows this. I found out my Dad didn't know about it a couple of months ago. I ran through a bunch of basic tips. I might to do it again, next time I talk to him. Sometimes things just don't stick. I'm that way with math.

You don't even need cut and paste. In IE, hit File, Send, Link by E-mail. (Don't tell Speedle.)

I guess I should trash my idea for smorse.com. "The easiest way to view source of a webpage."

I concur with John. A lot of people still don't get using a browser. I can't tell you how many times I have looked at the http logs for my wife's wine shop, and found that people clicked through to us by typing "www.rivercitycellars.com" into their msn start search engine page and clicking search.

Oh look, now they can use mefi's search function to get there instead. Nice to see msn has an indie competitor for that ever growing demographic of browser skill devoid retards wishing to navigate their way towards purchasing some intoxicating grapejuice. Perhaps the word 'Address' next to the glaringly-in-your-face input field in IE should be presented in a bouquet of neon flashing lights with a slightly nutty texture and a shivering, energetically enhanced, marquee effectuated aftertaste. I was thinking about that Derek. But then again, we all have free email services right? Those suckers can just sit there and play nerf basketball all day until they need some cash. One simple select and they've got every email address which has gone in or out of their system.

Oy.
