Forgot to link to the songs which Mr. Brad has for download from this game.
I'd say they were the best parts of the game but the cut scene after clearing the Oort Cloud stage was so detailed i actually teared up a little. Harry becomes like a real character by the end, you know?

i'm still in the intro and i'm really in a sort of good money (er.. time) after bad situation here? I feel like I should stick it out because i've already sat through, seriously, two minutes of load screen with no progress bar followed by more than ten minutes of unskippable intro and I want to get something out of it.
on the other hand, there is no indication of how much more intro i will have to sit through and I'm wondering if I should cut my losses now.
on neither hand... the intro does have a pretty amusing autotune song in the background.

Yeah, I'm some way through the ridiculously long 'national anthem' or whatever, and I suspect that I'm almost through the intro. But I'm not sure. And not really interested anymore. Sorry, Harry.
I feel like this was a way for this guy to showcase his little songs more than anything else. But of course, I never got to the actual game.

The gameplay's great and all... but I wish the graphics were a little bit tighter, you know? It would have made the surprisingly long intro a little more tolerable. Which would have been good, because once you get past that it's really a lot of fun.

I really liked their unique take on relationship management (even though Bleeblegorp wouldn't stop calling my space-phone), but I wonder if there wouldn't be some better way to balance the amount of gold farming you have to do before you can start to affect the local-system markets on a macro-economic level.

danny the boy: Gold farming is just a red herring. The trick is to exploit the game's magnetic monopole arbitrage by buying from the spiders, then getting your shipment destroyed by space dragons, and then collecting on the insurance. You did buy space dragon insurance when it was offered to you by the shady robot dealer in level 3, right?

If there's one thing that the surprising re-emergence of the 2D jumper/platform (thanks to flash on the web) has taught us, it's that what makes a game great is not the graphics or realism, but the gameplay and story.
Steamshovel Harry is a great example of this.

Hello I am the game creator. In response to a common question, no it is not a glitch that it seems you cannot get past level 5. Open your space inventory if you don't have the right item equipped.
Second common complaint addressed: Yes I know the tutorial should have been more thorough, but my belief is that players should not be hand-held through all aspects of the game. Learning to play is more fun than being taught how to play.

Wow sweet, creator chat.
I have several questions as you might imagine. But the primary one is which alignment do I choose once i hit second level???
I mean, it seems obvious that Harry himself is "good" in that he's trying to help his society, but it quickly becomes clear that the other side is more conventionally what we might call "moral" or "justice-oriented" or "not-parasitic-psychic-8tentacled-corporate-fungi". Given that NED is similar to Big Brother, and that XPs increase dramatically depending on your alignment to the Insidiousness VS Innocence matrix, shouldn't I pick "Lawful Swiss" at the very least, if not outright "Realist" despite the loss of Cleric Tech and E-meter Map reading abilities?
Second question: I know the way to beat the Screaming Gnats is with the Doppler Effect, but I cant make the Rave Whistle hit hi-C and do em all at one go...bug or feature?
I'll take my answer off the air, I think the mescaline just kicked in.

The key to Level 3, especially the Mines, is evading Golgamurth's laser eye without opening Mehrle's airlock. Use of your starting currency is essential, as killing enemies yourself will soon destabilize the asteroids, but not killing them will result in Mehrle obtaining the Jetpack's power supply.
Standard guns are best for this task, as the healing station can be used to keep your guards alive while they do the fighting and meta-control readjustments. Two more advantages of the guns are the large amount of bullets they start with, and their starting armor that can increase their maximum health without levelling up.
If you try this strat, let me know so I combine it with the now-famous "protection racket" attempts in Level 2. This might allow one to start fighting Zoltan with as much as 3476 extra HP.

I'm enjoying the bizarreness of reading the comments about the game while in complete ignorance of it. I have no idea if the game itself will match up to the weirdness that I have in my head right now.

I gave up after the intro started delving into astronomy. No idea what the actual game is like, because after that mind-numbing intro/tutorial and godawful music, I just. don't. care.
