For a second there I thought you said 'James Patterson.' What a relief.

Fan-fucking-tastic. There aren't many videos that make me gasp out loud in the first few seconds, but this one did it. The old drawings from about 3:40 onwards are especially intricate and awesome.

Wow. Want.

Why hasn't Adobe bought this yet?

I found the drawings to be ugly and weirdly mysogynistic. (From every angle.)

Even the treehouse?

I want this so hard that I started to type my name and email in all caps.

Okay, I get being able to quickly make 3-D wireframes using just a mouse and pen. That's neat, and will be incredibly useful in the future. So why did the developers choose to use such grotesque art as their proof of concept?

It's sort of like if I invented the phonograph and insisted on only recording armpit farting noises for it.

He really makes it look easy, doesn't he? There is a LOT going in terms of context sensitivity and AI.

Sketchup sometimes makes me want to scream, and it's easy-peasy. I can imagine the learning curve on the subtle gestures in Rhonda are nightmare inducing.

Hence the drawings, which I liked.

"Mysogynistic treehouse" would be a great name for a band.

Or a new Pee-Wee Herman show, I guess.

especially the treehouse. Talk about a boyzone.

Interesting tool. It actually reminds me a lot of Martin Hash's Animation Master -- in which you knit models together using splines and patches, rather than polygons.

Patterson's artwork doesn't really appeal to me, either -- for the same reasons cited by longsleeves -- but it's clear he possesses some decent drawing skills.

longsleeves: especially the treehouse. Talk about a boyzone.

Is there something inherent in the desire to construct a house in a tree which is exclusive to males or excluded from females? I admit, I include treehouses in my own artwork at the drop of a hat -- because there seem to me few things more inviting than a sanctuary in the arms of a good tree.

Kikkoman - yes. It was the women that made us get out of the trees and learn to walk. :)

Made me think of this painting by Magritte.

He's been making these for 5 years and it isn't even available as a demo download yet?

Normally it takes a while before a new technology is used to create images of giant nipples, but in this case they've short-circuited the process.

Artistic sensibilities aside, I find the underlying technology fascinating, and I'd really love to get my hands on it and give it a try myself. I have a feeling that what we're seeing in the video is the 3D equivalent of doing this in MS Paint, though, and the learning curve might be very steep.

Right, because drawing anything but photorealistic, normally proportioned women means that you hate them.

And those hands? They are the hands of men crushing the dreams of every woman's future.

Sure, the drawings are a bit grotesque - but If you saw misogyny there, the darkness is within you.

How dramatic.

Have you checked out his work? It is a touch dark.

Rhonda was originally a 3D audio synthesizer called SonicWireSculptor with the same modeling interface used for interactive art installations.

Calder had been there and done that with real wire and better, more interesting results, over 30 years ago.
Too bad he died long ago before this technology. Calder could have really made this thing (program) sing.

Reminds me a lot of Takeo Igarashi's Teddy, which has been a java applet for well over a decade and integrated into PS2 games.

With a sountrack.
