Chrono-synclastic infundibulum - SLYT featuring Bob & Ray, somehow based on a concept from Kurt Vonnegut's Sirens of Titan which refers to a region of the universe in which all conflicting opinions are simultaneously correct.

I'm not sure what that was; I know I enjoyed it.

Context: this is from a PBS production that was kind of a pastiche of Vonnegut's works. It was called Between Time and Timbuktu. KV was a huge Bob and Ray fan and was delighted to have them for this.

Thanks for the additional information, Lentrohamsanin. I was wondering what the hell I was watching.

And you know, watching that, it seems to me that PBS was a lot more adventurous once upon a time. A pastiche of Vonnegut? I can't imagine that being made by PBS today.

Thank you Lentrohamsanin, that's what was I was thinking of when I stumbled across the youtube clip. I believe there's most of Harrison Bergeron in there too.

In fifth grade, I got to choose my book for my book report for the first time and chose Sirens of Titan, mostly because I was fascinated with chronosynclastic nebulae and thought the rest of my class would be too.

They were not.

Interestingly, sales of red driveways took off after this show was played.

I loved this show. They had two-thirds of it available on demand at my high school library back in 1975. I must have watched it and "Harvey" a dozen times.

Happily, I've found a link to it online Between Time and Timbuktu- a space fantasy. It makes me happy that the Chinese are showing appreciation for Kurt Vonnegut, even if they don't have any respect for copyright laws.

Also, I don't think that Bob and Ray get enough respect these days. Thanks for posting this.

...the Chinese are showing appreciation for Kurt Vonnegut...

Just be careful not to inhale too many of them at once.

I just wanted to say that Sirens of Titan is one my favorite books.

More interestingly, it was a bunch of AskMeFi recommendations that got me to finally read it. Oh, MetaFilter.

This is why I always drive out of way to avoid the Superpositional Argument Agora . One asshole says"What is reality?" and you're stuck in an opinion pile-up for the next hundred years.

The promise of Bob & Ray was not enough to hold my attention during Yet Another Typical Druggie Psychedelic Sequence.
