Modern Furniture Designs. Innovative and unique furniture has twists and turns, literal and conceptual ways of breaking from contemporary conventions and modern regularity. These creative furniture designs go beyond merely innovative, crossing boundaries of industrial, furniture and architectural design, using new methods and materials along the way.

That bed looks like a life-size Meccano project.

I find that I often have to remind myself that a home is more than a couple of walls and roof over your head. Thank you, netbros, for this.

All of this stuff probably won an award.

Those giant foam tubes are hilarious. I bet if you got stoned in the same room as one you'd totally start believing that your house was infested with giant worms.

Frank Gehry is most famous today for large buildings with unusual unusual shapes. But years ago he made furniture out of laminated cardboard.

I was on a cruise ship to Alaska some years back when I came across two examples of these unique chairs behind glass on the ship itself.

Some of these are really great. Some of them are obviously the result of a frantic desire to differentiate oneself, and would be unstable, impractical, and uncomfortable. Maybe it's my middle-class upbringing, but the ability to sustain use for fifty years is something I value in furniture.

Most of this looks to me like the work of very, very talented undergraduates.

Not much of them look very useful as furniture. They look cool though which is all that matters.

This is fantastic. I think people underestimate the impact of their physical surroundings on their mental health.
