So... Evil Dead I with Nazis in Norway?

It's a trailer for a movie that came out two months ago. But anyway, here's the Onion AV Club review. They gave it a B-, which is actually fairly high for the AV Club.

Man, a childhood spent reading Weird War Tales has ruined the internet for me in a lot of ways.

Sundance, really? Man, they'll take anything these days.

But does it have exposition guy making random references to Einstein, like Outpost?

The Dead Weather.

Awesome. I think this would have made for the better SLYT post.

The Dead Weather.

Only thing worse than this video is the song. Holy crap. That woulda sounded like shit 16 years ago when it sounded like everything else coming out. And the video's like a bad interpretation of Near Dark. I can't believe Jonathan Glazer is responsible for that.

Okay, at first, I was ready to get all snarky about this post... A single video link to a movie trailer which looks like it's a northern European version of The Perfect Getaway?

But then the zombie Nazis appeared, and I realized that I suddenly have to send the link for that video to all my friends.

Saw this movie last month! It lived up to all of my expectations - pretty damn hilarious.

I know it would totally screw up the historical accuracy of the movie because snowboards weren't invented until after WWII, but the image of nazi zombies snowboarding down the mountain after their helpless prey would have been sweet.

If the story is that the Nazis were torturing people to death there, why are the dead guys Nazis? I would've expected the zombies to be the Nazis' Norwegian victims.

Maybe it's like the killer joke: someone sent a copy of this movie back in time and the Nazis stationed in Norway all had lethal strokes from watching it.

I am totally going to see this when it comes out on DVD. Totally.

You know, I actually preferred The Outpost to Dead Snow. I know, I know, but Dead Snow is so in love with trying to "do" Evil Dead that it doesn't bother to do much else. It isn't actually a bad movie ... it just doesn't have much new to offer once you get past the premise of sticking some Deadites in wermacht uniforms.

I like how in The Outpost all the characters have different accents so you can tell them appart.

Actually, snark about cardboard characters, exposition guy and various scenes that are just like that bit from Predator/Event Horizon/Aliens/Other I really enjoyed Outpost a hell of a lot.

Dang, I swear Metafilter is how I first heard about this a couple months ago... but I can't find it now. Thanks for the reminder.

I liked it, although the constant disembowelment and wanton flinging and chewing of intestines got a little old.

Also, I'm 99% sure I found out about this movie within the comments of a metafilter post about half a year ago.

the Heath Ledger/Joker influence is palpable.

The Outpost is ace. It has quantum ghost zombie nazis! A normal horror movie would've just settled for one, but they went for the quadruple whammy... (I was less convinced by The Objective, though it did have quite a nice Heart of Darkness vibe to it.)

I enjoyed Dead Snow a lot more than I thought I would. The movie was fun with a healthy dose of gore thrown in. So much more geniune entertainment and love of the genre compared to the soulless 'this ams serious business' remakes/reboots of classic franchises. As I mentioned previously here on Metafilter: any movie that has not one but two jokes around the stretchy nature of intestines is A-OK in my book.

good silly fun; nice cinematography - white snow and lots of blood.

And for the music lovers out there, the song in the trailer is "Awakening" by Benea Reach.

I thought Dead Snow was pretty disappointing. I need my zombies to follow some damn rules, and these Nazis still use guns and stuff.

Still, the movie does have outhouse sex, which probably makes it worth seeing.

Wow, first time I've heard of Worse Case Scenario... as some one comments on this behind the scenes clip on Youtube, if I had the money I'd give it to them right now.

From what I've heard, it works best right after you finish taking a huge dump. Nothing as attractive as that.

*makes a mental note never to make a pass a graventy*

*cries*

That scene was pretty damn hilarious and unexpected, though, and pretty much makes up for the fact that the zombies still have a good deal of motor function and can use tools.
