The movie Untitled is a stinging satire on the contemporary art scene in New York.

This post was deleted for the following reason: single link posts to movie trailers without some sort of "this is why this might be a good post for MeFi" parts is sort of not a good way to do posts here. -- jessamyn

I thought that New York's contemporary art scene was a stinging satire of the contemporary art scene in New York.

you do realize, of course, that people from los angeles are too stupid to understand the new york art scene, let alone represent it properly, let alone satirize it. really, the representation of art and what artists do in most mainstream media truly, truly sickens me. FAIL.

I'm at work so I can't watch the trailer, but I just want to say that the whole "Untitled" thing has always cracked me up about modern art. I like modern art, I really do, but there's definitely a kind of pretension there. I was at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth recently and I was about 80% right in guessing when something was going to be "Untitled". (The Fort Worth Modern is a great museum, btw, and if you're ever in the area and you like modern art or architecture you should definitely check it out. )

When I was a super pretentious emo kid in middle school, I always figured I would call all my future art masterworks "Untitled #[n]", where n was a random smallish number.

The woman bumping into the Donald Judd sculpture and collapsing it raised half a grin.

That said, you'd have to subject me to the Ludovico Treatment to get me to watch the whole movie.

I've constructed a 22 ft tunnel out of plywood that leads into the project room. There is no way in or out of the project room except for this tunnel. As you travel through the tunnel, it gets smaller and smaller, making it so that you have to crawl and put yourself in a submissive position in order to reach the tunnel's destination. At the end of the tunnel the subject will find me waiting in the project room and I'll try to the best of my ability to overpower and rape the person who crawls through. ... I want to make it clear that I plan to make the experience as unpleasant as I possibly can to anyone who dares to crawl through the tunnel. I will try to the best of my ability to make them regret their decision.

...a stinging satire on the contemporary art scene in New York.

Pretty much defining "low-hanging fruit."

Hmm, it seems like it could be funny, and I'll probably see it sometime or other. Like most popular treatments of contemporary art, though, it seems a few years behind. The bucket-kicking seems particularly off. Music has very much moved on.

I love the fact that the red dot is apparently part of the title.

All rape tunnels lead to Ohio, clearly.

Joe Beese, that is very transparently a hoax, from the first sentence in the Artlurker piece "Richard Whitehurst is a Columbus-based artist who made his mark on the Ohio scene by showing at the William Strunk Jr. Museum of Contemporary Art in Akron." Gawker is now raising flags.

The good natured snark in the replies here have already eclipsed any possible expectations I would have had for the youtube video.
