If it's as successful as Bill Cosby Talks To Kids About Drugs, women can consider themselves respected.

Remember The Arsenio Hall Show? Clinton playing the saxophone, "Woop woop...", and all that?

Cosby was a guest once, pontificating in that sedated-old-crank way of his about the tragedy of inner-city kids gang-fighting each other over "turf". Aresenio, as always desperately eager to make his guests look good, respectfully suggested that it was actually more complicated now with drug-dealing profits, etc.

Cosby fixed him with a glare of contempt and repeated that it was about "turf".

This is obviously, patently ridiculous.

I grew up in a world where "Cosby-sweater" was part of the lexicon for as long as you can remember, and Bill has always been a bit weird and out of it, and Ghost Dad was there, too. Anyone else who is around my age really owes it to themselves to go back and watch some of his older stuff; watch Uptown Saturday Night, and maybe Mother, Jugs and Speed or I Spy, but no matter what, make sure to catch Himself.

He is an easy target to make fun of now (boy, is he ever) but he did some good work, and he did it as clean as he expects everyone else to do it.

After all that, watch Eddie Murphy: Raw, again, for the part where he makes fun of Cos; he did a fantastic job.

n'thing paisley's suggestions. I link Bebop because it always floors me, but not because I disrespect the man or his legacy. A tremendously powerful and talented individual.

Even if Cos' new album approaches only one-tenth of the genius that was Hooray for the Salvation Army Band! then I will consider it a raging success.

What's weird about that is that Cosby's kid, Ennis Cosby mentioned in the bit as being an Eddie Murphy fan, ended up getting shot by a Russian Gang member in 1997. Kind of weird knowing what happened to him.
