Rabbit Tarot by Nakisha Elsje VanderHoeven.

She sells prints and original paintings from the Rabbit Tarot, along with other animal paintings and sculptures in her Etsy shop. She has a blog, can be followed on twitter, and many of her images are on flickr.

Original paintings from the Rabbit Tarot will be on display at City Trees Gallery in Seattle in November along with quilts based on the Rabbit Tarot by Cindi Glinski of Cottontail Quilts.

That's insanely cute. My little sister loves rabbits, but I get the feeling Tarot might strike her as a bit too occult, so I guess I'll have to keep searching for Christmas gifts.

I like these. Her card meanings skew very closely to practical, everyday interpretations -- they don't run very deep. But that rather fits with the simplicity evoked by the rabbits, and since this is obviously an artistic endeavor first and foremost (and since there is no minor arcana to lean on for more pedestrian symbolism), I think it is a wonderful little self-contained deck.

The Death card, for example, is everything I could ever want in a Death card -- it's dark and mysterious, but not spooky, and it shows someone embracing the inevitable. It's surprisingly moving.

Can we get a mod team to remake Persona 3 with bunnies? I'd particularly like to see Igor lagomorphied.

I don't know why but the Death Rabbit Tarot is oddly comforting and disturbing at the same time.

That Death card has to be inspired by the Black Rabbit Of Inlé. There is no way it could not be.

Charming, thanks for posting this!

I was wrong, if you click the second link and scroll down you can see that there are in fact minor arcana images as well. Very interesting!

The Death Rabbit needs more nasty big pointy teeth.

sometimes metafilter confuses me.

I really like The Tower and The Moon. The clarity of meaning in these images is surprising. There's an interesting contrast in a Metafilter post a couple of years ago.

LOVE. I love rabbits and I've been looking for a new Tarot deck. My others tend to run pretty dark (not super gothy dark, but just complicated) and I was looking for another "mysterious" deck, but maybe I need outright adorable and gentle. (The knights are riding goats! Strength is just lovely and moving.)

I can't believe my squee tag is inaugural. My girlfriend ordered a bunny card from Nakisha and I thought it was cool. I'm not sure if I found her site first or if the girlfriend did. I tend to check out a lot of websites of people on twitter, she tends to surf etsy. Either way, I knew I was eventually going to post her stuff here.

The real question will be is hermitosis going to order a deck!

Actually, the real question is whether hermitosis will interview Nikisha about the deck and then self-link to it in this post.

Also, will he misspell Nakisha's name in the process at least once? The bunnies say yes.

Yeah, I was so grateful for cut&paste on that name. Otherwise she wouldn't have even gotten the post. Can't wait to read the article. You tell her I sent you her way? Ha!

She had already seen the thread on MetaFilter by the time I got in touch with her, cjorgensen. I really enjoyed my chat with her, I will be ordering one of these for sure.
