That was fun. Thanks!

Also, I really liked this picture for some reason. It's great.

A lot of these are very cool to look at. Some of them where it's two pictures of someone mildly famous... eh, less so.

that was pretty cool thanks

We've been watching a lot of Humphrey Bogart movies lately (DVR'd from TCM Bogart festival) and marveling at learning what he (and people like Bette Davis) looked like when they were brand new to film. Don't know why the ability to see the aging process in film over time is so fascinating, but it is.

This was way better than I'd think the internet could muster for something like this.

Bill Gates has actually gotten less geeky-looking. Weird.

You know who else used to be younger?

Bill Gates has actually gotten less geeky-looking. Weird.

The image of him draping himself across his desk in a sultry manner is oddly scarring.

That "sexy bill gates" picture never gets old.

Bill Gates should not try to be sexy. Ever. My eyeballs hurt now.

The rest of the pictures are oddly awesome, however.

kbanas, that picture jumped out at me too. The vivid, saturated color and contrast between the blue and reds is amazing.

I just came here to say that I'm pretty sure that Anthony rules. That is all.

I can't remember which stand up comic said it, but a joke about people saying "here is a photo of me when I was younger.............well unless you've invented a very special new camera, EVERY picture is of you when you were younger."

That was surprisingly engaging. Go ahead and play on my lawn.

I totally have a crush of Suzi. I can't tell if that's a costume, or how awesomely people dressed in the 70s.

It's the dearly-departed Mitch Hedberg. The tumblr references it at the first post.

I love young Einstein's hair. Here's an earlier picture of him, hair in place. He was pretty cute when he was a young professor.

I was pretty meh on the famous people ones, but most of the rest were pretty awesome. (Especially Anthony and Allen.)

A nice addition to the My Parents Were Awesome that was linked to a little while ago, in which this photo exists.

Hmm. With picture quality being about as good as you could want it these days I wonder if we're going to lose that nostalgic photograph look. I can't imagine it will be the same looking at digital photos 30 years from now as it is looking at old black and white photos or washed-out polaroids.

I feel like I could be good pals with Suzi (and not just because of the Ferengi). And young Jennifer is marvelous. These are fun; I'd like to see more. You can see the change in their eyes from little kids, all with that completely unselfconscious look; teens seem simultaneously awkward and defiant, and most of the adults looking just a little uncomfortable (and Allan shows us that it can always swing back around to the who-cares joy of childhood). (And I want that shirt.)

Peripheral, I know, but I recall seeing a woman wheeling her very young child in a carriage. A
passerby looked at the young infant and said What a cute baby. The mother said: That's nothing. You should see the picture I have of her.

I love the about statement at the end:
If you’ve ever been younger before, you’ll love it.

“One time, this guy handed me a picture of him, he said,”Here’s a picture of me when I was younger.” Every picture is of you when you were younger. “Here’s a picture of me when I’m older.” “You son-of-a-bitch! How’d you pull that off? Lemme see that camera… what’s it look like? ”

-Mitch Hedberg

Thanks for the wonderful link! Will stop back again-

Stuff like this makes me sad and melancholy.

Where is home? I've wondered where home is, and I realized, it's not Mars or someplace like that, it's Indianapolis when I was nine years old. I had a brother and a sister, a cat and a dog, and a mother and a father and uncles and aunts. And there's no way I can get there again.

Total derail, but thanks, uncanny hengeman, for that quote, which led me to this thread, and then, sadly, to this one.

Reminds me of when people's parents submit their baby pictures to the HS yearbook.

Have you ever been younger than you are right now?

Sadly, no.

I'm half-tempted to send in pictures of me now (bald, goatee), when I was in library school (clean-shaven, glasses, ponytail) and one that I'm looking at right now that I can't be older than four or so (suit and bow tie).
