I like to eat.

I like to eat. Chowhound has regional restaurant message boards with varying degrees of detail. The New York Boards are particularly active with dozens of people offering their favorite soup dumpling purveyor/ramen shack/barbecue hut. What other regional or cuisine-specific food sites / online communities have you found?

It's not a board (I guess it's cuisine-specific), but I can't resist a plug for Spiedie, a central New York treat. It's basically marinated chicken (or other meat), but it's one of those things that you really have to try to appreciate.

Seattle has a newsgroup, seattle.eats, which gets a fair amount of traffic.

Chowhound is cool, I just wish they had better board software. Maybe I've just gotten spoiled, but I don't want to wade through all of that.

Still, I managed to find good Boba Tea discussion, an argument about the origin of the french dip (as an aside to the "oldest restaurant in LA") and I even got a chance to plug my wife's dancing. Very worthwhile.

... except now I want a french dip, a glass of bubble tea, and ... uh.... I gotta go.

No particular favorite one, but just wanted to share the local version of Chowhound (San Antonio, Texas) . They just went "live" a few months ago, and they had a little contest to generate interest. I submitted a very brief (VERY brief!) review of a favorite place of mine called "Biff Buzby's Burgers." Ta-da! I won...a $25 gift certificate for TW cable, a grab bag full of snax & candy, and a cute little cookie-tin emblazoned with the Road Runner logo. And my fifteen minutes of fame came when they took a pic of me and posted it on the local Chowhound site with my review. Now, when I go to Biff Buzby's, I see my review hanging proudly on the wall near the cash register. :-) By the way, I have no idea if Chowhound from the original post is in any way related to the TW-Chowhound...don't appear to be, but who knows?

(mmmm...burgers....)

Know what's unexpectedly good on vanilla ice cream? Tabasco sauce.
Seriously.

Ever bucking the pancake trend, I'm having waffles with ice cream and chocolate syrup.
