Ha! This went around my place of work the other day because, as our offices are situated facing the back wall of the building and thus right above the dumpsters, we have dead flies everywhere. We've been wondering what to do with them all, and someone found this. I thought it was pretty clever.

Throw them away.

This is a very fitting piece now that we've found a new way of killing them.

Times change. Today dead flies are the rage. In days of yore, people trained them: the acrobatic fly. (A must-see video clip from 1910.)

Were they humanely killed with lasers? Just curious.

Brundlefly, look away. Dear ghod look away!

When the pictures only contained flies, I found them pretty funny. Because flies are such awkward, bumbling creatures, seeing them getting up to all those goofy antics was amusing, even if they were a bunch of nasty insect carcasses. The pictures with other species of insect in them had very different effects on me though. The picture with the wasp creeped me out, both because wasps are more dangerous creatures, and because they're bigger and their parts are more spread out and discrete. It's easier to tell the wasp is dead, and to see it walking around humming is uncanny.

The one with the moth I actually found really touching. It's almost like an adult in a beautiful coat holding hands with a young child.
