Strange and peculiar electicity. Electrotherapy, Furby stress test, pre-Edison electric lights. Historic pictures of powerlines, and the men that made it possible.

Interesting post, thanks. I guess I just assumed that light bulbs were the first electic lights.

Any post involving Tesla coils is okay in my book.

I hate it when they stress test me. It just seems so unnecessary.

Cool. Thanks for this -- mainly that second link, but also the furby testing.

I wish the pictures had captions. In some of them it's hard to figure out exactly what they're doing.

You know, there used to be another site where they stress test various products. It's pretty funny and I wish I could remember the URL. It might not even exist anymore though.

When I clicked on the pictures link the first one that came up was Reddy Kilowatt, mascot of Monongahela Power Company. My mom worked for them for years. We had all kinds of stuff around the house with his picture. I always thought he was kinda cool as a kid. I'm glad to see he has fans on the internet.
