I see, it's cause he's the world's most aggressive machete salesman, and she doesn't want a machete but he keeps trying to sell her one but then she's like "I already have a machete thanks"

Yeah, this is really good. It keeps the viewer off balance, shall we say.

I was expecting some sort of TED-style presentation that linked the ecological effects of climate change on the oceans to impacts on our physical health and our bodies, which as we all know, are largely composed of water.

But this was good, too, and I probably wouldn't have watched the other thing all the way through anyway.

I liked the part that was musical.

Man this was HILARIOUS! t&e you GOT ME AGAIN GUFFAW!

not rly. this is nuts and beautiful. i'm glad to see them move into the realm of seriously fuckedup rather than fucked-up comedy.

i'm glad to see them move into the realm of seriously fuckedup rather than fucked-up comedy.

You should take a look at some of Wareheim's other videos. Major Lazer, MGMT, Depeche Mode. They're all built around coherent, interesting visual ideas, they respect the music, and they're surprising and disconcerting, but not necessarily "humorous". There's some real talent here. I kind of can't wait for the inevitable first movie (which I'm guessing will not be a comedy, or at least anything that's immediately recognizable as comedy...)

I knew it was a wig.

Cool video. I highly recommend seeing HEALTH live, they are fucking intense.
posted by ryaninoakland at 2:41 PM on April 10, 2010

all I could think about is how completely different the mood was on set as they were filming vs. the final product. Do you think the fat guy in dirty undies and the hip kid wearing a wig and a red dress were laughing like hell between takes?

Answer: yes!

I think this is what they were thinking before the whole genital mutilation incident....

It's a dead ringer for sure eh. They're on the same label I think.

They're on the same label I think.
They are, and Crystal Castles achieved "stardom" from their remix of a Health song.

1. Take one RED Camera
2. Shoot video at 120 fps
3. Play back at 24 fps for instant super-slow-mo
4. LOOK! I GENIUS.
posted by Civil_Disobedient at 4:30 PM on April 10, 2010

Have to say I like the track. The pay-off on the video is pitifully obvious. It's like The Running Man but not as sexy.

"He had to split".
posted by howfar at 4:32 PM on April 10, 2010

I have to say, I like Die Slow, both the song and the video better than this.
posted by dortmunder at 4:37 PM on April 10, 2010

They could have made this video OK if it had only contained oblique/confusing shots of the antagonist's face. Then as the head bounces on the floor you see a ball gag in his mouth. Would still be schlocky, but more fun.

I didn't think it was particularly well done or interesting -- cinematically or musically.

Interesting that Youtube doesn't put an adult content warning on a video showing someone getting stabbed violently in the balls with a sharp stick, then getting decapitated with a machete with fake blood spraying everywhere.
posted by zarq at 5:51 PM on April 10, 2010 [1 favorite]

If you stab a man in the dick, the only decent thing to do is to quickly decapitate him.

So this video prompted me to google "kevlar jockstrap" and this unrelated but enjoyable page was one of the more prominent results.
posted by _aa_ at 9:23 PM on April 10, 2010

sorry but that was utter shite. jeez, a bloke in a wig being chased to metal music? is this supposed to be some clever comment on violence or somethng or am i missing the point.

To the people who don't like it:

This video is cool because of the general Tim and Eric style of filming fleshy things is taken to a context outside the comedy show they already do, it does some cool things with gender stereotypes, and the music is good. Awesome.

It's funny if you imagine the guy from the new Old Spice commercial in either or both of the roles.

I liked it, and thought that the video was an effective compliment to the song. It's interesting to see Wareheim branching out a bit.
