Andy Baio maintains a master list of supercuts. Some of them are, alas, inoperative.

That. Was fucking awesome.

I don't care for these theme montages, but that was well done, and I was delighted to see so many favourite, lesser-known clips.

Could have used a "WARNING, CONTAINS TERRIFYING SINK MOMENT FROM ARACHNOPHOBIA" tag.

Spiders pouring out of a sink drain is not exactly my favorite thing to see while I have my breakfast. How the hell am I going to brush my teeth now? I hold you responsible for my stinky breath today. You, and god, for making spiders.

Supercuts? Undercuts. Instructive of cliche and the difference between genre and art.

I'll admit it - I'm a hopeless sucker for these montages, and this one was a good 'un.

They should've closed with Top Gun, though. Ridiculous to put it so close to the grand finale and then not give it its rightful place. All the guys in their cockpits saying the line, like they had it, then a quick cut to Val Kilmer doing that teeth-clack threat thing. Then the hard-cut to black screen.

Matter of fact, every montage of this sort should close with the Kilmer teeth-clack. It works as the final word in any cinematic conversation. I wish there were some kind of punctuation mark that was understood as its literary representation. An extra-bold colon with a period after it or something.

Alas:.

"GET OUT OF THERE, KURT RUSSELL," has got to be my favorite "Get out of there." There was a time when "About last night..." was the most-often uttered line of movie dialogue. I wonder if that's still true.

That was a helluva thing when Spock died.

They wrap him up in a towel and they shoot him out the bowel of the ship in that big sunglasses case.

Go go GO GO! Move MOVE MOVE!

Why do I hate movies? This is why. It's come to a point where I've started cataloging cliches by number, and sometimes can reproduce entire scenes just by noting, in order, which characters speak which number.

Wait, is it because we've got company? Because if we've got company I'll certainly move. But it's quiet. Too quiet.

How do people get hold of all of these clips? I've always wanted to see/make one that's a compilation of the "muzak in the elevator" scene.

Sorry, pdhist. I just showed that to someone this weekend so it was on the top of my head. Pretty sure I first found it linked here. Was it you? In which case thank you I love you. Ah, I love you even if it wasn't you who linked it.

Having just watched Total Recall: The Musical, this makes me wish there were enough films of people saying "Get your ass to Mars" for a supercut.
