You go, Tom!
"The roll call was a feather in [Tom] Daschle's cap as he managed to prevail in his first effort as majority leader to stop a Republican filibuster."

Senator Tom Daschle (from South Dakota, no less), one of the only Democrats who still has guts. (Where are ye, Harkin? Where hast thou gone, Wellstone?)

But wait, wasn't Rush right when he claimed Daschle was Satan?

Also of note, the opposing republicans resorted to name calling to smear this bill.

Hmmm, I thought Robert Byrd was the only one left that still knew anything about parliamentary procedure...

This is BAD law. We can't hold mexican trucks to different standards than canadian trucks. Why don't we hold them all to the same standards that american trucks face? Oh, yeah, that would make sense...

Daschle is also the guy who had guts enough to call Bush on his flawed foreign policy. (About half way down the article, but it's there.)

Daschle was pretty spineless until the Democrats took over the Senate, but I'm happy he's flexing a little now. Anyone who helps make Trent Lott irrelevant is good in my book.

I'm pretty sure John McCain did something to him at that picnic of theirs.

Probably because Canadian standards for truck safety and driver qualifications are already far above American standards, thus making enforcing any American standards a moot point as the trucks and truckers are overqualified. In fact, I think we should be holding all trucks in a NAFTA zone to Canadian standards...

He just appeared that way. Daschle was the person who was ACTUALLY "misunderestimated," not George W. Bush. From all appearances, most people estimated George Bush just about as well as his performance is showing. Daschle has been underestimated since he won the leadership in 1994, something that he was not expected to do by the way.
