Babblesort just created a nerdy reference black hole from which so social life can escape.

There's some indescribable genius behind the choice of clip to pair with "Mick Jagger".

This made me smile and laugh. Very well done.

It boldly goes, y'know?

That "The party don't start until I arrive" live, with Kirk swaggering through the door and grinning?

It sums up the awesomeness of the original series.

Cute. Makes the Enterprise seem like a lot of fun.

The original show's plots make much more sense if you assume everyone was crunked up and or hung over all the time.

This video contains content from Sony Music Entertainment. It is no longer available in your country.

Thank you, Sony.

Nice! Some clips from "I, Mudd" in there!

Logic is a little bird chirping in a meadow.
Logic is a wreath of pretty flowers that smell bad.

Slash-tastic. And better than expected.

If we're doing quotes, the main one that came to my mind was, "It's... green."

You guys, Star Wars goes pretty well with that crappy song, too.

Via the Reddit thread on this magnum opus.

Man, it seems like Star Trek TOS doesn't need new special effects. The old effects were part of the charm. What it needs is better editing for pacing, so that it watches more like a modern drama. Where's the Audience's Cut of Star Trek that doesn't have the awkward 15 second reaction shots?

I liked it. Good editing matches the music nicely.

The long reaction shots are necessary to fully appreciate the seductive and sly look that the bar of light eye highlights give Kirk.

I don't like Ke$ha. But I LOVE TOS, and l love this video.

Can't stand the song, but this was awesome. :)

Oh Metafilter, there are times when I hate you. Not for what you do, but for what you lead me to do to myself. You enabler, you...

Lady Gaga - Monster
I Kissed a boy
Shatner's Common People (easily my favourite)

It would be better with Uffie.

It would be better with Uffie.

Maybe, but a Princess Superstar video mix would probably blow all of them away.

Can't stand the music without the delightful video but..

I like to think this is what DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, and Majel Barrett are doing all the time wherever they are.

It warms my heart to see that parodies of Tik Tok (like this other one) have racked up more views than the real thing.

Holy shit, that was brilliant. I also really enjoyed Monster and Common People. That look at :38 in the latter...priceless.

Not just a great concept, but well done too.

The gleeful cousin of the "Closer" fanvid (previously on Metafilter)! I secretly love it when bits of fandom cross over into the wider web. Here's the required link to Henry Jenkins on the tradition of this kind of nutty mashup.
