She's twelve now? Tweens scare me.

Daniel Tosh also interviewed her in his typical style on Comedy Central's Tosh.0. Video is towards the bottom of this page.

While he didn't touch on it directly*, the interviewer's tone sounds as if he's very, very sorry she had to be exposed to youtube commenters.

*in the first half at least, all I watched

I've watched it a few times, and I always worry she's gonna fall off the counter. :ohdear:

I never worry she's going to fall off the counter, because she can do anything good!

Comedy Central keeps pushing Tosh.O adverts. And they make me actively wish to never watch an episode.

Bah. The fact is that when you google her, that vid is all that really comes up. In the eight years since the 'affirmation' was taped, this gal has accomplished jack shit of note. 'Nother fine example of a lost and hopeless society suckling desperately at the teat of feel-good pap. There is nothing but futility and darkness in this world. I like my aunts, too. So what?

What exactly are you expecting a 12 year old to have accomplished?

Tosh.0 is an overtly racist wrap-up of web videos from 2 years ago. It's like a mean, internet version of Talk Soup.

Was this kid just copying an adult, or was she actually encouraged to make such affirmations? Love the cute, but it is unsettling to consider a 4 year old already needing to gird her loins in such a way.

Windopaene, I would have hoped she would have developed a reliable dumb-joke detector by now, to save me from myself.

I actually really like Tosh.0, and I wanna argue w/ the racist comment but I don't wanna turn *this* thread into *that* thread.

Anyway--in answering if she did this on her own, on the Tosh interview she basically says it's something she's generally done in the mornings her whole life, and that she still does it. I think it's kind of one of those things that kids do, form a pattern of, and then it becomes something of an OCD necessity.

But according to her and her parents, she's just a really happy kid who likes to remind herself why she's so happy.
