Ving Rhames gives a rather eccentric radio interview to promote his latest film. (SLYT) (Pepsi Piranha)

Gee, I can't imagine why Ving's producer would have wanted him to tone it down.

This is screaming for either a dance mix or a soundbite generator thingy.

I attended the premier for "Dawn of the Dead" and the party afterwards. Ving showed up at the premier with a baseball bat covered with "zombie blood", he carried it around all evening. What you hear in this interview is the way he is when he's promoting something.

That was awesome. And Lauren Felsenstein can suck it!

A few years back, Ving Rhames was at the table beside me in a Toronto restaurant. The server brought over his bill at the end of the meal, to which he responded, "What's this?". He became irate after being told the obvious, and subsequently requested the manager. After telling the manager that he was "lucky" to have him in there, Ving and his companion walked out without paying. He's a complete dick.

Wow, somebody told me about this the other day, but I couldn't imagine just how fucking weird it is. Holy cow.

Oddly enough, though, I have to admit that, even before hearing this, Pirhana 3D is pretty much the only movie in the last year or so that I've had any interest in seeing. Oh, except for Toy Story 3. But other than that, this is it.

He seems out of sorts, August 20th.

If the goal was to have some viral marketing done, mission accomplished.

It must be noted that "Ving" is short for "Irving". If anybody the action movie biz feels the need to overcompensate, I think he would.

Why Pirhana 3D is not scary:

Walk thirty feet inland.

Problem solved.

Yeah, well, the folks on Pacific Air Flight 121 probably thought they were pretty safe from snakes...

Yeah, but now load that plane up with pirhana.

Not scary.

Stinky, but not scary.

Also: I just now learned that I have been spelling "piranha" wrong MY WHOLE STUPID LIFE.

gman: A few years back, Ving Rhames was at the table beside me in a Toronto restaurant. [...] He's a complete dick.

This anecdote completely deflated my worldview until I read it again and finally realized that this post is about Ving Rhames, not Vin Diesel.

Vin Diesel is still a prince among men and we love him, right?

I don't care how many times Ving repeats it, there's no frickin' way I'm going to shell out cash-money to see a p.o.s. 3D sequel to a sub-B movie franchise that's over 25 years old.

I mean that would be like paying to see a SyFy Original movie. In 3D.

Don't encourage them.

This reminds me of the time about 15 years ago when I saw Rhames on a late night show (Conan?) promoting Striptease by forcing the audience to chant "It's not damn Showgirls."

He's in the right business.
