This is sort of creepy! The enormous head and little smile.

But I like watching its careful deliberate movements, like how gently it picks up a cone from the stack of cones. And now I want ice cream even if it is not served to me by a robot.

Awesome! But does it play happy ice cream truck music? Also "prohibits the entry of persons affiliated with crime syndicates and persons with tattoos" :-(

Maybe you could get some here?

Summerland ... my daughters had summer jobs there once upon a time, although if this sort of thing keeps up, I suppose summer jobs will be a thing of the past ...

This is standard procedure for swimming pools and sports clubs.

you know, the opera Carmen is actually about the circus, so there's not really anything strange here.

As opposed to the opera Cartman, which is about falling in love with an ice cream serving robot.

I wondered about that, but then (too tired to look it up) decided it was really about the bullfights.

We've seen the gold standard for creepy Japanese robots.

I recently read Rudy Rucker's Ware tetralogy. This makes me think of the Mr. Frostee ice cream truck that is actually a refrigerated holding tank for the superconducting circuits of a robot brain.

I was wondering out loud to my girlfriend why ice cream parlors always advertise "hand-dipped" ice cream cones

It's to distinguish it from soft-serve, which isn't dipped or scooped so much as pumped or extruded.
