Also heard this on the radio and it's great, I love the "Small Person Acquisition Project" title.

Much ♥ for CBC Radio.

That is great. They run in my dad's circle of friends. Great people.

It is wonderful to hear things like this. I mean, I know it is much about the problems and preconceptions and prejudices (many probably much worse than they sound), but IT'S being talked about! And that means so soooo much.

Think TAL or ATC will air this though? Ha. The middle part of NA is falling far behind. But things can change, I guess. Ten years ago I'd scream and want to hit someone when I heard the word 'queer'. Now I like it! Maybe there is hope for others to get past their hates too? Maybe?

Is this something where I have to be Canadian to know what this is aboot?

Apparently it IS something you have to be willing to click on a link without context or introduction and then listen to a 23-minute podcast to know about.

What is this about? Who are j and Bear?

Beats me. Judging from the comments, they're apparently people MeFites know? Maybe this was supposed to be posted on MetaTalk? Since the FPP doesn't tell us, we may never know...

They are the subjects of a radio piece produced by the CBC which is available for your listening pleasure via the link above. You are welcome

Geeez guys, this is a tough one, huh? Maybe push on the link or something, or are you to busy eating macho salad from the link below? Or what?

I clicked and listened. j and Bear are two trans men who began their lives as females. One of them (j) got pregnant through sperm donation and they "acquired" a small person (ie had a baby).

It's interesting - and worth a listen. I had caught the end of this on the radio, so I had motivation to listen to the beginning to figure out what was going on.

Bear and j are a couple, two trans men who had a child -- j was the one who was pregnant -- and who got listed on the birth certificate as 'father' and 'father' (or 'father 1' and 'father 2', I forget), and it's a story about the process.

"happiest person in the history of happiness" - Bear
I feel pretty happy for them, too.

I did, actually, but the resulting mp3 was too clever by half and completely non-informative.

smartypantz, while not living up to the sobriquet, was, however, actually helpful and saved me from having to click around randomly until I figured out what was going on.

Maybe push on the link or something...

On a blind link to an unskimmable mp3? Flagged.

I wish you'd fleshed out the post a bit more--I know what it's about because I've already heard it and I read Bear's blog, but most people don't. Although I suppose I enjoyed the CBC program mostly because I already know a bit about them and they both seem like awesome people.

DU: On a blind link to an unskimmable mp3? Flagged.

DU, how is this any different than linking to a single video with no explanation? I don't see any problem here.

We're probably getting into MetaTalk territory at this point, but I heard the piece cold without any prior knowledge of who j and Bear were, and didn't have any problems understanding what it was about after a couple minutes of listening. I had looked up Bear's livejournal and some other resources, but since the radio bit was the link I was interested in and provided all the relevant information, I didn't feel elaboration was necessary. Further context could be gleaned from the tags, though admittedly that would require someone to click through to read them.

If someone does want to take it to MeTa... c'est Le MeFi, I guess.
