Wonderful! I hadn't thought about this guy in years, forgot all about him. Fun stuff!

Solamao is I think my favorite Dave Pike song. The interleaving of vibes & guitar is sublime.

I recently found out about David Pike - and it's really brilliant stuff. One thing which makes me smile is how he sings along to his solos, but in a kind of dull murmuring - you can hear it a bit here, and on some studio work it's really quite loud.

I discovered Dave Pike and Jazz for the Jet Set many years ago. Good jazz, I thought at the the time and then moved on. A few years later I was listening to this fantastic tune with a great beat and went searching. To my surprise, it was Dave Pike and Mathar. It blew me away that he had turned a corner somewhere and disappeared into psychedelic jazz. Now I have all the cd's.

I went to see David Helfgott a couple of nights ago, same thing.
Very cool jazz, thanks, puny human.
