This comment made me wonder what your favourite "project that never quite happened" was.

In reference to the comment that made you go hmm, unless the web page is woefully out of date, it looks like the Affleck-Damon sponsored runathon will happen.

um, yeah, let me see. ticketstubs, metafocus, metafilter pro, regional metafilters, metafilter xml-rpc api (heh, that one's a joke), collaborative hiking trail description site, bicycle news/magazine site running off the evolt codebase, spamdango (spam statistics site for the hell of it), metababy-metafilter, FreeOL (open source project aimed at creating a single umbrella shell app to surround several freeware parts, essentially a standards based, open source AOL), mypinions.org (site to post reviews of everything I've owned, consumed and done, more performance art than anything helpful), and a dozen more sites I can't think of right now.

I remember Matt Groening said his biggest life regret was not completing the zillions of ideas and half-started projects he leaves behind all the time. He said if he could live his life over again, he'd do his best to finish things he started. I'd say the same thing regarding the web. I wish I could finish these things. I guess I shouldn't announce new ideas anymore, but mostly I do it to get feedback, help, etc. Too bad life changes faster than my plans for it.

If it were the reverse, Matt, you'd fall over dead from boredom. You're better off as you are.

Matt, I love the spamdango idea - it even got to the "lorem ipsum" stage.

There is no one who loves pain itself, who seeks after it and wants to have it, simply because it is pain.

"Mother 3," the Nintendo 64 sequel to "Mother 2" on SNES, known to the US as Earthbound. Yes, I am an enormous dork.

Heh, my entire life seems to be one endless unfinished project made up of a million different parts. I'd go into detail but it depresses me...
