Has he done animation work before, or is he maybe aping another artist's style? I could've sworn I've seen this kind of stuff on Nickelodeon or Ren and Stimpy or something like that, but nothing in his portfolio looks familiar.

Appropriate for Metafilter.

You know what? When I clicked f5, I really had no idea what was about to happen, even after checking out the cartoon.

Aping several other artists' styles. The most overt one to me is Chuck Jones:

Andy | Chuck

Andy | Chuck

This one too, but I can't for the life of me remember the two shorts where those designs come from. There's also some Mary Blair/Little Golden Books and UPA for good measure.

I love the colors in this one,

Am glad cereal boxes do NOT give out this prize (or my house would have been torched more than one),

And wish this one was available on a shirt.

Great thread, thanks, netbros!

Nice eye, overeducated_alligator. I remember the short you're talking about for the last one, too. Bugs Bunny? The mad scientist with the Jekyll and Hyde thing going? The hair monster might even have been there, and eventually Bugs drinks the potion too.

Somehow I can't find any annoyance at imitating Chuck Jones. I mean, who can blame him?
