You HAVE to read some issues of Atomic Robo, the adventures of the world's only adventure science robot. Ummmm, same author.

I dunno, I found it kind of tedious after a while, kind of the same joke over and over.

Warbot says: []
Over, and over, and over.

"I dunno, I found it kind of tedious after a while, kind of the same joke over and over."

I think that's kind of the point of Warbot's pathos. It's truly cringeworthy. The worst kind of failure is the one you suffer over and over, and nobody knows or cares.

After reflection, I think your point is that it might benefit from some developing some other characters.

After further reflection, methinks the artist is illustrating his own pain. The lack of development of other characters maybe reflects the lack of relationships in the author's life. One's own pain can be consuming, to the point of narcissism. Paradoxically, abandoning the pain, ignoring it, and focussing outward on other people will actually help it wither and go away, and it will no longer draw your attention.

Yeah, I mean to me this seemed like an allegory for the solitary life of a nerd in an office environment, someone who doesn't get other people and doesn't feel like they can communicate, or whatever. Trapped in society's social puzzle when what he wants to do is be out on the plains tracking prey with an obsidian tipped spear.

But a lot of the jokes are about him not being able to speak, or use the phone and I'm just sitting here thinking "Why doesn't he just install a modem and a voice chip?"

WHY IS THIS SUCH A BUMMER.

I'm a sucker for these kinds of nerd-agony, social purgatory stories and now I'm all glum in the early afternoon. Thanks fer NUTHIN

Also, #14 is definitely a bridge too far.

It's Fall back an hour, not a day. Unfortunately.

Also, this is interesting. Thanks!

Whoa, 8-bit Theater finally ended! Yeah, it was stupid, but I read every single one for years.

Is this some kind of "Garfield minus Garfield" thing where Warbot was originally saying clever things and making jokes, but someone has edited out his thought bubbles to make it all pathos-y?

For what it's worth, the WarFAQ isn't as quite as depressing.

Paradoxically, abandoning the pain, ignoring it, and focussing outward on other people will actually help it wither and go away, and it will no longer draw your attention.

A few years ago I was talking to a guy I worked with about how much I hated myself and he said that he turns his hatred outward towards others and that helps him.

I assume that's not what you were going for however...

My favorite in joke in the strip is that it's they 'Weyland' accounting firm, and the account that's always screwed up is the 'Yutani' account.

Yes, I am a nerd, and yes I have days where I feel like warbot, why?
