Why do you think?

When Dennis, an introvert bodybuilder, invites a local girl out on a date his mother is hurt and disappointed. Despite the pressure she puts on him to cancel the date, Dennis ventures into the indelible.

A hyperbolic depiction of the struggle of the introverted in a realistic style.
SLYT; first post.

I can't help but think a foreign version of The Wrestler.

I can't help but think a foreign version of The Wrestler.

That's because you only watched the first five minutes.

Nicely done. The ending had me on the edge of my seat due to the camera work. I guess I've been conditioned to expect supernatural violence when the third person shakycam is involved.

Thanks for the post. The movie was really moving in unexpected ways and hit close to home in several different areas.

What a wonderful, sad tale this was. Perfect for lunch time on this depressing Monday. Thanks! Incredible how you can draw out the character of the mother from just a few scenes. (I also saw that Thomas Vinterberg was somehow involved)

That was quite good.

Thanks espirit. Although I don't think I would describe something so muted as hyperbolic. I'm not sure it's even possible to exaggerate introversion. At least without mixing it with more dramatic mental illness like Taxi Driver or Repulsion.

I liked it. Kind of reminded me of Carrie. I kept hearing "they're all going to laugh at you!" in my head.

Well, that made me hate his mother. A lot.

Poor Dennis. I love the sound of spoken Danish and the contrast between Dennis's curt rumbled Danish and his mother's is amazing. Also, it has flæskesteg with the nice crispy cracklings.
