I don't think there is any thing I do in my life that I have that much feeling about.

Um, ... massive meh.

Lots and lots and lots of videos of her doing pretty ordinary club-level interpretive dancing.

Good for her for loving dance, and not sucking at it, but - why is this an FPP?

ah, heck... there are a million snarks that could be thrown here... but, the truth is, good for her!

I'm thinking that anyone who hasn't posted at least 800 dance videos on the 'tube has no room to be critical...

One of the very best use's of the web: slightly annoying exhibitionists get to effectively scratch their itch without bothering the rest of us.

So "best of the web"...

You know what, videos of women HER age dancing and doing it well - I can't imagine there's many. The first video, I went, oh NO! That's wrong. The second I looked at, I thought, God, I hope I've got her guts when I'm her... wait, I wish I had her figure AND her guts now! Good onya!

I think most of us has danced our hearts out in the mirror when we knew no one else was watching, but she has the guts to record it and put it up online.

Watching the "Psycho Killer" dance leads me to believe she would KILL at "Thriller." Also at an impression of a zombie and/or Frankenstein and/or mime.

My, but David Byrne sings rather out of tune, doesn't he?

I first came across Diana's channel a couple of years ago when I was looking to see if one of my favourite songs was available on YouTube. Diana, dancing to the song, was one of the first links that came up. She is a pretty remarkable woman - week after week she posts two or three more vids at a time and that's how she has accumulated several hundred of them on her channel. That is her original artwork hanging on the wall in the background. She also paints murals, and has a curious spirituality.

She seems to be having a good time.

If celebrating a wonderful human being truly enjoying life is not enough of a reason, here are a few more:

She's talented. Her face, body and hands tell a story with every song. I'm no professional but I'd say she is well above club dancing. I'd go as far as adding "extra" to your "ordinary" and I don't think I'd be alone in that appraisal.

She's genuinely enjoying what she's doing. She's so in the zone she'd make Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi proud. And, no. It's not drugs:

"I don't smoke anything and dancing does not require it. Get real."

Her words, not mine.

She's determined. 862 videos and counting! As Pantera said at the end of Mouth For War:

"NO ONE can piss on this determination."

Talent + True Joy + Determination.

There are plenty of videos on YouTube that score one or two out of three but precious few that hit them all.

If you look through the sites linked on her YouTube profile, you quickly learn that she is a loving, tolerant and peaceful human being who values freedom and respects life. She's a rare commodity in this violent day and age.

All in all, her videos were refreshing and I am a better person for having "met" Diana Campanella through this wonderful (and totally worthy) FPP.

Thank you, madamjujujive!

IAmBroom, there are plenty of videos on YouTube that you should sweep away with your massive meh broomstick but, to paraphrase Ben Kenobi, *looks IAmBroom in the eye and waves his hand* these are not the videos you are looking for.

I wonder if the plan is to first become an icon, then sell the pictures behind her at ridiculous prices. Whatever, good for her, gotta admire the dedication.

Okay then.

One snark.

Her mic/sound rig sucks.

I was really hoping she would do the jittery David Byrne moves that gave me nightmares as a child.
posted by benzenedream at 11:12 AM on December 19, 2010

No. The best interpretive dance of Psycho Killer was done by David Byrne himself in Stop Making Sense. All the way from the tapping white shoes, the ghettoblaster with the click track, and the awesome bit where he follows his drunken random walk with a super sober stride back to the mike exactly on time.

stringbean: S'OK, I just don't get it. I'd certainly like being around her, and enjoying dancing with her, but ... it's just missing me.

(And thanks for the compliment on the size of my broomstick.)
