Das Racist's (Previously) video for Who's That? Brooown! is an homage to Sierra On-Line's early adventure games. Liked the video? Play the game!

Not only Sierra On-Line but I'm seeing Frogger, Double Dragon, Zelda and possibly The Simpsons Arcade game among others.

Killer song/video/group. These guys have been killing it.

Oddly enough, I'm at a combination pizza hut and taco bell right now.

Oh, heh, yeah, Which one do you think is the Simpsons Arcade one? I didn't even think of that, but the 7 train platform scene resembles it more than a little.

Also, Heems' apartment is almost definitely from Elevator Action and the buildings on the way to the show are Tetris, Snake and Rampage.

I can't figure out whether the shoplifting scene is from a game or not.

I've always been a fan of Missy Elliot's Sock it to me for the Megaman factor.

The logo on her... breastplate? actually looks a lot like the GMail logo, although the video probably came out long before that.

What blows my mind about this stuff is that there's going to be a whole generation of kids for whom "8-bit graphics" is nothing more then an artistic style choice for 'hip' and ironic art.

Da Brat is dressed almost exactly like Rush (with a bit of ProtoMan) as well. Plus the stylization of the feet, chests, etc. And she uses the MegaBuster at about 0:54. It's a straight-up reference.

I was thinking it was the 'duck and jump to avoid beer bottles and golf balls' part. But that could be something else. The shoplifting scene almost looks like one of the Hugo games. But a lot of those early Sierra games looked like that too.

without having seen the Simpsons Arcade, the store they shoplift from is a "Kwiki Mart" and the 8-bit counterman looks suspiciously like someone who once sang a song entitled "Who Needs A Kwik-E-Mart?"

Jesus Christ LSL didn't age well. Neither did Police Quest (at least PQ III, the one I had.) Those games were hung on pretty dated fads: the bad misogynistic standup comics that ruled the 80s and the satanic cult hysteria (respectively), both being things I think everyone would like to forget about forever.

Lyrics about Cream in a hip hop song followed immediately by a The Jerk reference? If the rest of it were fart noises and pots clanging, Das Racist, a winner would still be you.

Never have two people asked me if I knew where they could get cocaine so many times in such a short period as Das Racist. There must be a record for that.

The Kwiki Mart interior is from the original Leisure Suit Larry - I think the exterior is too.

No one's linked Das Racist on Anthony Bourdain's Holiday Special yet?

My experience exactly. I think they asked everyone in a little snowy college town in Ohio for some snow.

Nice that the stage in the final scene is an homage to the C64 demo Thrust Concert.
