Ha, bring out the gimp! Seriously this looks more like an art project though. How did she get the CCTV from the car park?

Serves Bill right. Hell hath no fury like a woman with a lot of time to spare and Quicktime to go with it.

I love the Internet! Have a look at this.

Just did a Google search on YarnBird, the registered owner of the domain. Maybe this is a bit of Blair Witch style promotion?

Certainly in the UK it's your right to obtain any CCTV footage you think you might appear in, under the Data Protection Act. Dunno about the States ...

There are actually a number of competitions for the best film made entirely from requested tapes! Looks quite a good laugh ...

The competition is for the most creative short film obtained via the Data Protection Act.

That's hilarious! I suppose there has to be some upside to being subject to surveillance 24 hours a day. Let's hope the winning films feature footage of some of our more prominent politicians.

I know how many Bills there are in the world, but I fully expected this site, from the title alone, to be another obsessive anti-Clinton one. I see from dlewis' follow-up that I was right. We will now all retire to the MetaTalk discussion of PR infiltrators on MetaFilter. *sigh*

It was worth knowing that bit about obtaining CCTV tapes, tho, so it wasn't a total waste of time.

Ouch! No, I'm not a PR infiltrator...the link was sent to me from an Urban Legends mailing list. I've contacted the guy who sent the original link I saw, but he's seemingly unconnected (lives in Melbourne, Australia, as I do). I thought the site was genuine - I looked up the website owner and found the Yarnbird website, but didn't think to do a Google search on yarnbird, as dslewis did. The Yarnbrird website features just another dumb Flash animation and nothing else.

It certainly looks like it's a Blair Witch style PR exercise. But that's all I know. From dslewis's link it looks like it may just be a short film. Now you all know as much about it as I do.

They may be trying to launch a movie somewhat on the back of the famous affair by giving the politician a particular first name, but I fail to see any anti-Clinton sentiment. The casting notes describe Lily to be an "ethereal beauty". Any comparisons surely come to an end at this point.

In fact the whole idea sounds a bit old hat, really. I thought the point of those scandals was that the US public had become more comfortable with the idea that politicians have sex (eugh... apologies for that image). I for one would have found the premise of "What Heather Knows" a whole lot more interesting if it had been about a regular guy called Bill. I guy with a scorned ex-girlfriend. I guy just like you or me (um... not that I dress up in gimp suits, though.)

As for PR infiltrators that's an interesting point, but I seriously doubt there's a direct link in this case. Cut out the finger pointing.

Actually, you are correct. A Google search on yarnbird produces matches for a casting call, of course you have to go the cached versions:

chrisgregory: I'm sorry, too. I didn't mean to point a finger at you. I've been taken in by a bunch of links to commercial sites, myself. We're all big kids here and we can make our own decisions about what's worth noting and what isn't. I like the Yarnbird animated logo, by the way: it's good silly fun. So I've already gotten a lot of interesting stuff from the link you posted. It's not like anybody's going to twist my arm to see the movie, after all!

I apologize again. I was pointing a finger, I was just waving it about as a general warning. Maybe I just need another cup of coffee. *Sorry!*

A. Can YOU spell "descriptive"? How about telling people a leeettle bit more about the site?

B. Being MeFi'd seems to have put some serious strain on the server. I wonder if this is a good thing or a bad thing for this film.

God damn it, Starr, everybody already knows!

As far as that server being overloaded, how about that decision to have all those movie clips automatically start loading on every page? Some people on slow connections choose not to view movie clips. I'm hardly a network manager, but aren't they just asking for it?
posted by CosmicSlop at 3:05 PM on November 6, 2001

Errr, did you guys click all the way through? (I wonder if that will work with this referrer...)

fooljay: Whatever you linked doesn't work for me. If you've got the time, could you give a verbal description? Thanks.
posted by realjanetkagan at 5:46 PM on November 6, 2001

Just click all the way through (Image to links to links) all the pics on the main page. Two of them (I think) end up at that URL. The text was an image so I couldn't copy and paste. Basically they are selling the whole site as a DVD or some such... Probably also part of the PR stunt. You know, you too can have the evidence against Bill...
