The Essential Hinduvta Orgchart by Suman Palit in his weblog the Kolkata Libertarian. I'm not from Calcutta, and I'm not Libertarian, but I found the information design in this chart of the relationships between the Hindu nationalist party BJP and various other Hindu institutions fascinating. Note that not only each organization block, but most of the relationship lines, have individual links. What specialized knowledge do you have? What tools would help you share it with the world?

dhartung, as someone who makes a practice of illustrating my musical conceits to friends via complicated visio diagrams, i'm completely with you in the "how cool is it when people break down specialized knowledge into easily digested info-visuals" camp.

but i gotta say... couldn't that layout have been a little more straightforward?

or maybe i'm too fond of centering and even-distributing objects in flow charts. that's what happens when you migrate from systems architecture to information design, i suppose.

thnx for the link. i enjoyed it.

I think SAP presented their range of solutions very well in this map.

A slightly unrelated link: Inxight Startree is a cool tool to navigate/visualize through information - if that is what one is looking for(the demos for some reason dont appear to be working).

I found the org. chart really cool. Very aptly described too. I think there is another allied organization that is trying organize the tribals and trying to become a counterweight to the missionary presence in the tribal areas. Can't remember the name right now....

Thanks for the great link, Dan!

I could probably do the same thing for Philippine politics (and family ties in Philippine politics) but it would take me a few days that I don't have right now, be so large that you'd have to scroll down and to the right a lot (it would probably be best done in 3D because pretty much everyone is connected by business, marriage or school ties), and get me so pissed off that my blood pressure would skyrocket. Maybe one day...

Kinda reminds me of the Gateway to Heaven. I've never seen a better chart explaining drug use.
