What do you wish you'd known/done when you were 21?

I turned 21 last week and I want to know; what do you wish you'd known when you were 21? What do you wish you'd done but didn't, or what did you do that you think was an unmissable experience?

What do you wish you'd known when you were 18?

Is there anything you wish you had known when you were 18?

Epiphanies

I recently had a major epiphany. The kind that has resulted in a rather radical shift in how I live and the choices I make each day: "You don't own the stuff-- the stuff owns you." Sure, you might think it facile or cliche, but since this new framework suddenly, deeply and firmly established itself in my noggin, I have stopped buying stuff all the time (like I used to) and I have been relentlessly getting rid of all the crap I had accumulated over 15 years. My question is what major epiphany have you had most recently and how has it changed your life?

Why A

Why do the letters of the alphabet occur in the particular order that they do?

Here is London, giddy London. Is it home of the free or what?

Inside, a question about nocturnal activities which will be best answered by Londoners, night-owls and lateral thinkers.

What experience most shaped who you are?

Life-altering experiences. Can you point to a single experience in your life, as a child, which you can define as having contributed to the person you are today? (+)

Suicide Girls TextAds

So yeah, suicide girls. After some teeth gnashing, and asking all my female friends about taking on suicide girls image ads on mefi, I decided to take them (they seem tasteful to me -- I dropped the ones showing too much skin) with the caveat that a simple click and anyone could hide them forever. Here's what I said when I took their first textad long ago and the same applies here. They are as racy as I will go, and this won't start a slippery slope as they're the exception to the rule.

Meaning [this is good]

What's the cool-kid, hackerish and full definition of the phrase: [this is good]?

D'oh! He's pining for the fjords!

Is there a way to gently steer someone away from constant Simpsons or Monty Python quoting? [MI]

Brilliant "dinner hacks" anyone?

Nutrition filter: I am looking for unique ideas for making quick, easy, heathy, inexpensive dinners (in my case, for two) every night... or at least most nights. "Dinner Hacks" you might say. I feel like I've tried all the standard "solutions" already (for example, cooking a few big meals on the weekend and eating leftovers the rest of the week). There must be something else I can try.

How do those scummy cheats do it?

Inspired by this question, I would like to know what people actually do to cheat in university (or school, or academic settings generally).

What's That?

What's That? Sadly, the education of the youth of amerika is declining in more than one way. The other day I was at the grocery store and the checker was unable to identify a portabello mushroom. And no, she wasn't new...and to make matters worse the checker next to her didn't know either. (more inside)

What's the best part of your daily routines?

If you have a routine that you regularly do at night or in the morning, what have been the most beneficial things you've added to your routine that have improved the quality of your life? I'm having trouble establishing routines that are meaningful to me and I'd like some suggestions.

Announcing: favorites and flagging

I'm working on favorites and releasing what I have today. Think of favorites as an internal bookmark system, a way to keep a list of the good questions, great comments, or interesting ideas you've found here.

Right now, you can mark a thread on mefi, metatalk, or ask mefi as a favorite, and view it at the link in the header above (is the header too wide for small monitors?). All your stuff marked as a favorite is public and anyone else can see the stuff you've marked (this comes in handy later on).

I'll be adding the ability to flag comments later today and very soon I'll be doing something akin to the fantastic posts page on Ask MeFi, where the most favorited things over the past few days is highlighted on a single page.
