Similar Usernames

Similar names. There are multiple active users with my name or a variation of my name. I'm SpecialK, there's Special-K, and SpecialK420. I've had people email me about askme questions and answers posted by both of these other users.

I obviously wouldn't ask anyone to give up their identity, but in the future can we get some sort of policy from admins? I mean, otherwise, I'm going to start snapping up names like Ouonsar and mattowie before they're all gone...

Can anyone help me find that great AskMe post from a while back that was about finding a nice, semi-unusual, old-fashioned boy's name for a baby?

Virus, a flash based tile game

Virus is a very simple, addictive flash game; using the colors available to you at the bottom of the screen, convert all the tiles on the board into a single color. Similar colored connecting tiles become part of the viral mass. Via.

Translating Pinyin to English?

Can anyone help me translate Pinyin to English or know of a site that can translate phrases? A friend of mine was sent this, 'Wo zhen de shang ni chu, yen wei wo xi huan ni pe wo de shi zhen' and he has asked my help in finding out what it means. For all I know it could be totally insulting, inappropriate, etc... so apologies in advance if its offensive. Anyone?

How Can I Wrap My Brain Around GTD?

I've bought and read most of David Allen's Gettings Things Done. I've also read a ton of things on line. But I'm still having a bear of a time wrapping my mind around GTD. I feel like I understand it on one level but I don't know how to fit it into my normal daily workflow. What is it that I am missing?

What is the best book you've read in the past year?

I've recently had a schedule change at work that leaves me with large chunks of time that I usually fill with reading. Since January 1st I've read 9 books. The problem is that I seem to have exhausted my personal "to read" list and end up in the public library empty-handed. What is the best book you've read in the past year? I'm open to any genre.

Mathowie's Community Blog

This song is called mathowie's community blog, and it's about mathowie, and the community blog, but mathowie's community blog is not the name of the community blog, that's just the name of the song. - lyrical brilliance by It's Raining Florence Henderson, with extra bits of artistic license taken in the studio. - Arlo-esque lead vocals by French Fry, aka my brother Alex.

What's the best non-fiction I haven't found yet?

I'm looking for more great non-fiction books. Requirements: writing to make an English major swoon; a thesis or narrative structure that makes for an organized, logical flow; well-reported; interesting; true, with embellishments of known fact made known by the author.

Novels with swashbuckling?

Recently I've been stricken with a definite yen to read novels involving swashbuckling and pirates, but then I realized I didn't know of any! (Except maybe for The Princess Bride.) I would very much love to read a fun, adventurous swashbuckling novel much in the same tack as the Monkey Island games and the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, something that promises to be a thrilling, guilty pleasure. Any recommendations?

Campgrounds for Dummies

Need advice for two tent camping newbies about to travel the country via Honda Accord. Is KOA generally reputable/nonscuzzy nowadays? Any other hints for this year's summer season? Recommendations on equipment? Do you have to reserve ahead of time (we are trying to not schedule ourselves too much!) or can you usually show up in the evening and get a spot? This question is as broad as can be - all advice welcome. We are happy to do some off-trail places but don't want to backpack necessarily.

Bring me to the edge of my seat, and then push me over!

What's the most exciting novel you've ever read? I mean this in the simplest sense: an exciting plot. I'm looking for page-turners. Novels that keep you on the edge of your seat and refuse to let you sleep until you finish them. I'm looking for genre novels -- but I don't care what genres: Mystery, thriller, sci-fi, etc. (though sci-fi/fantasy has been done-to-death here, so I'm really more interested in other genres.) Oh, I care about words. So no matter how exciting, I'll quit reading if the prose is crappy.
