If the reason they treated you as a return customer was because a computer system told them to, it may actually have done facial recognition on you. Retail organizations are getting rid of their "loyalty card" programs because they aren't needed any more: they know who you are when you step up to the register, and probably even before you get out of your car. Hi, I worked in the exact same environment. My advice? Start making your escape plan right now, particularly during the time you're forced to come into the office.

Bosses squalking like this is just the tip of the iceberg and I urge you to get out ASAP. When it's physically impossible to show at the office, I.e. Blizzard, illness, bomb scare, your boss might still have the same attitude of bodies in seats.

You do have an option, but unfortunately it is "get a new job." If your boss won't let you stay home, you have to go to work. I suppose you and Tom could also collude somehow to make her think the office is open when actually neither of you bother to go in, but as that could result in you getting fired, I probably would not do that.

I have to work the holidays, too, and it's boring and it sucks. But that's adulthood sometimes.

I still think when Probst leaves the last tribal council with the vote jar, they should show a little mini-movie montage of him crossing deserts with it, parasailing, hacking through jungles with it under his arm, chasing down a kid who steals it from him in a marketplace, etc., then he shows up live on the stage with it at the final episode.
