Recommend a good microphone for recording voice on a PC

I need to record a significant amount of voice using my PC at home. I've picked up a couple of consumer-level, $20-$40 computer microphones (tried two different cheapie Logitech models) but haven't been overly impressed. Recommend something better? Assume I know virtually nothing about microphones or associated mic lingo, and that this mic would be used exclusively for single-person voice recording (no interview situations, and no musical instruments, etc.)

Mental Action

Can we believe at will in the same way that we can raise our arms at will?

Minds of Our Own

"Why is it that students can graduate from MIT and Harvard, yet not know how to solve a simple third-grade problem in science: lighting a light bulb with a battery and wire?" "Minds of Our Own shows that many of the things we assume about how children learn are simply not true." Three one hour streaming video programs on teaching science. Imagining the Tenth Dimension

Imagining the Tenth Dimension (Flash). 10th dimensional physics and string theory don't get any easier than this.

Dracula Man X2 Alpha Turbo

Awesome stuff, guys. I'll represent retro/chip music: I'm involved in the niche hobby of writing new music with old videogame hardware. The music you are hearing was programmed in notepad using a TurboGrafx 16 (PC Engine). It's meant to combine Capcom and Konami videogame soundtracks of the late 80s, hence the weird title. I perform this music live in NYC, with guitars and lasers. I got awesome advice on Ask MeFi about how to get my equipment to shows, and as thanks I'll share my stuff with whoever might enjoy it. More of it is at my site, and my friends who also do this share it also.

Hummingbrrd

A light-hearted vocal tune/experiment - all sounds are from my own voice, including the potentially craptacular quasi-beatboxing in the middle. Enjoy!

The Road

Ooh, bop bop, ba-ooh, bop bop. All I know is the road and I love you.

Project Gutenberg Guide?

Are there any guides or reviews to books on Project Guttenberg? With 18,000 books there has to be some hidden gems, but how to find them? I'd also like to find other free book sites.

How can I make my writing accessible to readers?

How can I make my symbolic/abstract writing style more accessible to readers, so that they won't turn away from my stories in boredom?

The decline of Jazz?

What's up with Wynton Marsalis? And what's up with jazz? 20 years ago he was the genre's Boy Wonder, driving force behind a new Classical Jazz movement; today he's label-less and has gone years since his last new CD. Then, Jazz clubs across NYC and across the US still played bebop, now their numbers are dwindling. Is jazz doomed, permanently embalmed by those who tried to save it? (Has it been doomed since 1945?) Will it rise from its ashes nu jazz? Will it be subsumed into world music and lose its identity? How are any musicians and listeners out there finding the current scene?

Do I give the wife an old GF's jewelry?

About 15 years ago, I gave the GF a pair of diamond earrings. Nothing grand – we were both young and poor – about 5/8 carat. When I found out she was cheating, I demanded them back (among other things). Flash forward 15 years – I am now married (to someone else obviously), and just came across the long forgotten earrings in an old box.

What's it like to give birth?

What is it like to give birth? I'm male, and one of the side affects is that I'll never get pregnant. I'm wondering what it's actually like to give birth to a whole new person.
