If you like Pink Floyd youll like the tribute site Echos .. it has 25 full-length "best of" songs with artwork, lyrics, videos, message board and anthologys. Combined with a nifty interface. Any other good Pink Floyd sites?

OK, i'm not the biggest Pink Floyd fanatic, but from what I've listened to, this IS PF music and not some re-makes. If that is true, i would think the RIAA would be all over their ass (get some law like net stations and how can't play the same band w/in a certain amount of time). I could be krazy, but just what came to mind.
Overall, the site is kinda' snazzy, specially' for those of us who don't have any PF music.

This is outstanding. Thanks for the link. If only the RIAA would lighten up we'd see more things like this. I wish the would have given a blurb about what the song was about, the symbolic meaning or the context of it at the time it was written.

Look at the URL folks. It's at hollywoodandvine.com - the official site for Capitol Records. The link is the official site for the remastered pink floyd best of album, Echoes.

Not only is it Capitol Records site, but it's been a featured link (well, advertisement really) on Quicktime's homepage.

This flash design is really good--and I normally don't like flash designs. I particularily like the way how the icons fade from pixelation to clarity, and just the general 'controlled chaos' feeling it gives.

Heh heh.

I've got the munchies.

Interesting flash back man, but it seems to have been programmed stoned as it eventually ends up overlaying parts from different clicks on top of other clicks ending up as a big mish-mosh of unrelated items displayed together.

Plus it doesn't always seem to play the correct song for the user selection, i.e. it played 'Time' for 'set the controls for the center of the sun'. Then overlayed the selection grid over the album stat info for yet another album.

everything i tried worked out fine...

it's nice to see that the syd barrett era of floyd is getting better represented. i never understood why the 'shine on' box set didn't have 'piper at the gates of dawn' (the greatest album ever along with 'underwater moonlight' by the soft boys) in it. especially seeing as 'saucerful' was in there (i mean saucerful's a nice album, but 'piper' is a lot more together)

shine on.

At a party when I was 17 or so (a loooong time ago), I dropped my best friend on his head - Pink Floyd was playing in the background. Long story. Thank goodness he was so seraphically plastered that there were no lasting ill effects, other than his tendency to remind me once in a while about 'that time you picked me up and dropped me on my head.'

Advert or not, this site is very cool.

Dude.

Well, isn't http://www.pinkfloydradio.com odd. It used to be an excellent streaming audio site, until it got beaten and left for dead by the RIAA. No idea what it is now, but I suggest you take a look.

Ah, and it has a track from "The Final Cut". My favorite of their albums, and the beginning of Waters' hyper-politicized phase. Also, apparently the album that broke the band up.

I was pleased to see Pink Floyd place above Michael Jackson's new CD on the Billboard charts. Talent will out.

I'm actually not too big of a fan of 'The Final Cut' (or 'Animals'). I see 'The Wall' as the 'beginning of the end' of the 'middle Floyd' (Dave/Roger). Before the tour they had kicked Rick Wright out of the band (he still played with them as a paid member) and he wasn't officially back into the 'band' until Division Bell. There are also instances where Roger Waters had increased billing (I think 'The Final Cut' has some weird credits where it's like 'Roger Waters, music by Pink Floyd' or something - I don't actually have TFC since I don't care for it that much (I think I used to have it 'back in the day, one of those things).

I do like 'When The Tigers Broke Free' tho.

I find Roger's Solo stuff to be kind of a mixed bag. P&C: boring. KAOS: A little bit lifeless rock, but ok. Amused: pretty boring, but better than P&C.

QrysDonnell: I think P&C of H is pretty dang boring, agreed, and Radio KAOS is so dated now that it's not exactly listenable (although DANG did I like it years ago, especially the 'boardroom' song, what was that called?), but Amused to Death? I think that still holds up like crazy - especially the title track, "Bravery of Being Out of Range" and all the other anti-Bush/anti-Gulf War songs...
