Next gen TiVo announced. Apparently "by holiday season 2002" we can look forward to broadband, photos, CD storage/playback, streaming audio, VOD, and something called "video party games" on our TiVos. But will my Wishlist ever learn to refresh in under 15 minutes?

I kid you, TiVo, but I love you. Don't ever leave me!

I got my first TiVo last night. I can't imagine shelling out for another one this year (they are pretty durn expensive) but for somebody who went years without watching television more than perhaps an hour a month, I have to say that TV has come a LONG way. TiVo is awesome!!

Will it be called TwoVo?

And will there be a DirecTiVo version?

TiVo is one of the only cool "tech" toys/appliances that I've purchased which hasn't gone stale, worn out, become obsolete, or broken in the 1.5 years that I've owned it. Worth every penny - I hate tv w/o tivo (a.k.a. I love TiVo).

I was just thinking about jellyvision today. I hope it works.

I am a TiVo addict, but I want it to do what it already does better and faster. I hope they are also working on enhancements and efficiency in their current TV scheduling software, not just adding on bells & whistles that I will never ring or listen to.

Oh, frickin' Real is going to be managing the music. I love TiVo, but there's no way I'd trust my chinny-chin-chin to RealNetworks, creators of some of the most obtuse bloatware in modern history. Plus, all of it's already on my Mac - why duplicate?

The Jellyvision games are probably going to be swell, as Jellyvision tends to create rather nice stuff. Now if they'd just hire me already....

Seems to me that TiVo and Apple are going for very similar markets.

Off topic: Did anyone read the "Hey TiVo suggest this" in Futurama's titles on Sunday?

real = spyware, doesn't it?

Personally, I would be happy with a simple improvement with the way it lists my channel selections. It's never updated to my currently listings, and takes way too long to fix.

But if they are planning on adding all these new features, there is no way they could do it without *finally* adding network support.... A whole new easier hack!

I'm gonna hold out for the Moxi

Oh, this is so infuriating. Apple's big announcement on Monday should absolutely have been a home media server that would have done all this but much, much, better — and been your home Web server to boot. I can't believe that they're letting TiVo and Moxi (and surely soon Microsoft) eat their lunch.

Moxi. Cool.

Is my new TiVo going to have a CD tray in it so I can rip my CD's? Huh? HUH? A DVD tray would be great, too, even though I just got a DVD player for Christmas.

Also, do I have to use Real to do my music on the TiVo, or is that just if I want the streaming service? So many questions. I have my lifetime subscription, though.. and love my TiVo (which I did get for free thanks to the writing contest).
