There are dozens of people on the internet who have been victimized by her, and yet no one seemed to do much about it. So they did.

Wow! I know I am going to spend the next 2 or 3 hours on this website. Usually people like this (compulsive liars) simply annoy me with their inferiority complexes and delusions of grandeur, but this is absolutely facinating. Definetely a sick and twisted character. It's amazing that people like this actually exist. Awesome link, posey.

Wow indeed. In the case mentioned in the articles, she even conned one of the men into marrying her. The newspaper articles on the website are from 1994, and she first contacted one of the guys mentioned in the article in 1990. If she's still at it... well, that's impressive.

Interestingly, I was listening to David Bowie's Outside album while I came to this post, Outside being a sort of murky near-future concept record where one of the characters is "a reject from the world wide internet."
Nancy seems like the absolute embodiment of this concept, with her myriad identities and disparate sources coming together to thwart her.

It'd be pretty cool if this site was in fact some sort of meta-con, where it's Nancy herself sacrificing a seemingly real identity so she can disappear a bit further.

What a charming woman! She really shouldn't use the Internet to commit her crimes though- I just dropped these folks a note: I know where her fake house pictures came from. I bought the photo CD years ago for an art project. I wonder when these people are going to learn?

Reference: Her stairs and foyer are on page one of the catalogue, kitchen is on page three, bedroom is on page four, sitting room and tv room are on page five.

posey: Okay, here's a conspiracy for you: how do we know that the geocities site wasn't put up by Nancy herself in order to perpetrate some even more elaborate con? Where did these people get the baby pictures of her, and why post them on the site?

How do we know that you're not Nancy?

I've met one guy who was deceived by this woman, back when it was cool and interesting to tool around on LambdaMoo.

She claimed she was someone she wasn't (a beautiful, sexy blonde from Australia, I think) and got him to pay her airfare to meet him. When she showed up, she wasn't as advertised. However, desperation for geek sex apparently conquers all, and for whatever reason, she ended up living with the guy for several months, only to leave him with several thousand dollars in credit card debt and long distance telephone charges.

It's interesting to see that she hasn't changed her ways. And that she's still able to con gullible internet men out of their money.
