Tonight the lead council from Live365 will be taking calls and answering questions live online here in just a few hours, about the recent CARP proposed rulings for internet streaming radio. If you're interested in seeing internet radio live on, give it a listen, if you prefer the RIAA's stranglehold on distribution and prefer hearing Creed streamed over any one of the thousands of identically programmed ClearChannel outlets, feel free to ignore.

Here's the letter they mentioned Arbitron Ratings sent opposing the CARP recommendation.

I don't prefer RIAA's stranglehold, but listening to the feed, I don't see what we can do to stop it. The big wigs have the law (copyright law to be specific) on their side. The system for music on radio, be it offline or online, is designed to only be accessible to people who have the money to be able to afford it. So again the reality of freedom is that it's only free to those who can afford it.

I am broadcaster on the internet, and i think CARP is CRAP. It is ludicrous to think that the internet broadcasters are causing failing CD sales. The industry can not really blame the internet for its lack of good product.

When people listen to streams on the internet, they go out and buy the CD's or download the songs from Audiogalaxy or Napster likes. The quality of internet audio streams is no way a threat to CD sales, PERIOD.
