Not surprisingly, police were needed to break up celebrating students at UM last night, though it wasn't as bad as what happened over the weekend. (I guess the Saturday riot really wore them out.) As Bobcat Goldthwait used to say: "If your team wins a major sporting event, you can legeally do anything within the next 24 hours." And this is the school I should be proud to call my Alma Mater?

a Maryland State Police trooper lost two teeth when he was hit in the face with a board.

My sister is a Prince Georges County officer and was there last night as well over the weekend riots. Ill get a report from her when she wakes up. Support your police they arnt all bad and take a lot of crap sometimes.

I just want to point out that when IU upset Oklahoma and Duke to get to the showdown with Maryland, we didn't riot at all. Some fans are just better behaved than others. (We lost the big game, but we have manners. Some consolation prize, huh?)

Yeah. The school I go to UNCW lost to Indiana and nobody rioted. I never really understood why your riot even if you team wins! One of those articles said the school would be asked to pay for the police cars the sheep vandalized, which only means all taxpayers in the state will be paying part of the bill.

And its so idiotic to riot over sports anyway. I'd riot over bigger stuff like, oh blacks and jews being marched into ovens or gas chambers or whatever.

Anyone else think all students they can identify as rioters should be kicked out of school?

Yeah, I think the motto at UofM is "We riot when we win, We riot when we lose". I will *never* understand the mentality of "Hey, our team just won! Let's smash that car!"

stbalbach, give your sister a pat on the back and a thumbs up for me, because the police at UofM have the most thankless job. If they quell the riot, people complain that the police are "cracking down too hard when the students were just trying to have fun." But if they stay back at a respectable distance, and let the riot work its way out (like they did last spring after we beat Duke), people say "Why didn't the police do anything?" I saw an interview last night with a student who actually blamed the police for the riots, saying, "We were just having a good time, but when the police showed up, it really put everyone on edge." Man, last time I saw balls like that they were rolling behind Indiana Jones.

Keen, not only should they be kicked out of school, but they should be thrown in jail for a long time. Possibly even expelled from the human race.

I was drinking milk when I read that line. It almost came out of my nose I was laughing so hard.

I was in the post-victory riot in Tucson, Arizona after U of A won the NCAA Championship. It was pretty crazy, masses of people running amok. Cars being turned over.

I think the national guard was called out.

Ah hell. I spoke before I read the morning paper. But we didn't riot when we won against Duke and Oklahoma, honest to pete!

I will now shuffle off to drown my embarrassment in a vanilla Coke.
